Vendor Rant

I had a makeup and hair trial today at 5 pm. I live and work in NYC and came home early just for this. I called at 6 pm and this woman sounded frazzled and she 'didn't realize it was 6 pm already.' She then calls me 40 minutes later to tell me she needs to cancel!!!!!! I've been waiting here for nothing! I'm so mad!!!!!! Now, I don't even trust this woman to do my hair and makeup for the day of my wedding. She has a wedding before mine and she claims that she will be at my hotel in time to do my makeup and hair for my 3 pm ceremony. What would you ladies do? Forget her and move on???

I would forget her and move on. The last thing you need is an unreliable makeup artist. There are so many good ones - i would keep looking!

Oh I forgot to add that I went 'home' to Long Island from NYC. Adding insult to injury. What gets me is that this woman comes highly recommended from many brides.

I would call and talk to her to find out what happened today. That was very unprofessional. If you talk to her maybe you'll get an idea for whether this was atypical or whatnot. Either way, it's not a confidence builder when it comes to her reliability!!!! Is there another person on your list of recommendations?

I know. I am def. not confident about this woman. I am going to call another team that I met when I was at Priscilla of Boston. My DOC highly recommended the woman that flaked on me today. Fact is, she has a wedding before mine and that makes me feel really uneasy. I am just going to keep on looking. If anyone can suggest a hair and makeup person that can do extensions, please FM me!!!! And that will come out to the North Fork without a HUGE traveling fee.

Definitely find someone new, you have plenty of time. It's not worth the stress on your wedding day wondering if she'll be late. Could you FM me who this was so I can steer clear Thanks

Definitely go with your gut. I had a meeting with a vendor who never showed up. They emailed me later to explain there had been a mix up but it made me really uncomfortable. If you're even a little nervous about booking a vendor, don't do it. There are so many other hair & makeup vendors you could book and feel more comfortable with.

I agree. My gut was like 'something is off' and honestly she has a wedding before mine about 30 minutes away. I would be a nervous wreck until she got there!

I would say forget her and move on. You don't need any other added stress especially about your makeup. That should be something you feel completely confident in on the day of your wedding! Good luck!

if you are not comfortable with her you should definitely go with someone else.. last thing you need is a nervous break down at your wedding.

Thanks for the support ladies. What gets to me is that she didn't even call. I had to call her an hour after our scheduled appointment. I understand and I'm completely patient about other things that may come up, hey, we're human, right? but at least CALL me to tell me something happened. Don't let me sit there over an hour wondering where you are.

Anyway, I'm over it now and I'm going to start searching. I really appreciate everyone's support! Thank you!!
