Hi everyone, I posted this on the 08 boards and thanks to a suggestion of another 08er I am posting it here....
FYI-
Ok, so mom wanted to go look at dresses and grandma was over so we decided to go take a look at D I N A S in Plainview.
I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!!!
the woman was so rude I started back talking her.
First:
she said 'Well how much do you want to spend? if you arent going to spend at least $1000 dont even bother coming in here'
EXCUSE ME? ( keep in mind, this was really the first time mom was looking...so she had no idea what she wants)
Then she asked when I was getting married so I told her in about 11 months. The owner said to the sales lady 'Dont even bother, the wedding isnt until next year'
this is the kicker:
I had some dresses in my hand my mom liked and the owner came over to me and started yelling ' What are you doing with those!!! Where are you going!' I said my mom wants to try them on... she GRABS the dresses out of my hand ( yes, wripped them right out of my hand) and said ' this is not some store where you can just do what you want!'
I said ' who the hell do you think you are talking to! and, you are lucky you did not hurt my hand!'
I walked out and told people coming in that they should walk out because she is the rudest person and they shouldnt even give her the time of day.
We were shocked! how can someone treat a customer like that!
ok, vent over...
BUT I ABSOLUTELY ADVISE NOT GOING THERE!

my mother and i went there.....we werent treated THAT rudely but i did feel like we werent treated like other customers. I guess plus size doesnt make their dresses as attractive. personally i thought they were a little out dated.

don't vendors GET how bad that is for business??? i hear so many of these kinds of stories about snooty dress shops, irresponsible make-up/limo/photography people, etc.
never underestimate the ability of women to band together and bury someone's reputation. wedding stuff is ALL word of mouth.
just plain unprofessional

I had a similar experience in that store. Arrogant and nasty. There was a spur of the moment black tie affair that I had to attend and I just happened to be over in that shopping center when I found out about the event.. I was also asked how much did I want to spend and given that I wasn't interested in spending $$500+ , they kind of told me that they couldn't help me.

OMG. I am really angry for you just reading that. You should seriously call them and let them know that you left a terrible review on a Long Island Wedding site. I would just for the satisfaction. UGHH!!!! I cannot believe that anyone would have the nerve. And by the way, I don't know what they are talking about with that whole 'at least $1000' thing b/c my friend's mom got her dress there this past spring for only $800 so obviously, they do carry stuff under that price point. I wil be sure to spread the word not to ever go there.
