Vendor Vent

Vendor Vent

i went to see a florist about 2 weeks ago. i sent an email to him last week (wednesday) telling him i wanted to book him for our wedding. He didn't respond to the email. so i called him he said he got my email and would be sending the contract to me that day. Almost a week later i still did not receive a contract. I sent him another email this morning asking him if he sent the contract. No response yet. MY FMIL said with Mothers Day and this time of the year maybe he just has been busy.

My question is how much more time should i give him. He is one of the 'recommended' vendors by our RH. maybe he isn't in a big rush since we aren't spending that much $$. we are spending about $1,500. Should i call him tomorrow? if he doesn't give me a straight answer or no response should i contact the banquet manager?they are the house florist for my RH

I just hate having to constantly having to follow up with people. so far i have lucked out with my vendors. they have great & responsive.

any advice would be appreciated!!

Well, he probably was busy with Mother's Day, however if you believe you are not getting the right service because of the amount of money you are spending, I would use someone else. There are plenty of vendors who will want your 1500 and will give you the proper service and attention you deserve. I probably wouldn't wait any longer... but if you want, wait a few more days and then look somewhere else!

I would be patient since it was Mother's Day. Let things calm down, you have plenty of time. JMO

I actually disagree. what are you supposed to do? BEG to give him $1500? that's ridiculous. If it were me, I wouldn't contact him again, and you receive the contract within the next week or so, I'd book it.... if you don't, I'd avoid him. If he's nonresponsive before you sign a contract, how bad will it get AFTER you sign the contract....

either way, I'd search the bride reviews and BBB for any negative comments, just to be on the safe side.....

well maybe i will wait a bit... but how long does it take to respond to an email, telling me its in the mail or not??!! if i don't hear from him i really feel like forwarding the email i sent him to the banquet manager since he is the 'house' florist.

Also, i did do search & found nothing negative. I really hope he does get back to me as i really impressed by his work.

I second...we are getting married on Sep 9 and didn't book florist until last week. Relax you'll be fine.

I know some brides doesn't like to hear 'you have a lot time' but its actually true, we (me and FH only) manage to booked everything for less than 6 months. We started wedding planning in March and we pretty much have everything (not to mention, we live in the city and all of our vendors are in LI)

Be patient a little while longer - this time of year is hectic for florists - Mother's Day, weddings, communions.
Give him a call tomorrow or early next week. Fridays are busy times also. Don't call the BM, they have nothing to do with the contract between you and the florist.

If you still don't feel comfortable and the florist doesn't respond, find another. Ask and we can recommend. Just because they are a house vendor does not always mean they are the best for you.
