vendors and their emails...
Welp... one vendor just totally lost my business! I know its only e-mails but I just felt she was pushy and snotty. I had never received an email from her prior to the first one.E-mail #1:
Hi Katie,
I sent you an email a while ago, are you all set with your wedding flowers?
Best,
Flower Lady
--------------------------
My response (And yes.. I was snarky because I was annoyed that she stated she e-mailed me prior to this. Spamming me DOES NOT COUNT)
Flower Lady,
I haven't really thought too much about my flowers yet as I would only need 5 bridesmaid bouquets, 5 wrist corsages and 3 boutineers.
I am not doing floral centerpieces or anything like that.
I will keep you in mind for when I am ready for flowers.
Thank you,
Katie
--------------------------------
The response I JUST received:
Well that is fine with me, if you need help with your flowers just let me know.
Best,
Flower Lady
---------------------------------
She just annoyed me. I left out her name and the company name because I didn't want to be totally rude. I just needed to vent about the fact that I feel she is not professional in her communications.
edited: formatting.

One of the vendors one time never called or e-mailed me back when I asked for more information a bunch of times. They lost my business right then and there because they wouldn't even respond to me!

Crashing - I contacted a DJ company, they called me and left a voicemail and when I returned the call...I never heard from them. A week or two later I get an e-mail from a different person like 'So...what are you doing about your DJ?'I mean...YOU never contacted ME! Which I told him. And then he sent me a price list and I've been getting 1-2 e-mails from him ever since asking 'Have you done anything more about music for your wedding?' Follow-ups are one thing, but this constant barrage of e-mails is off-putting. I think my next response will be, 'Well, I've decided not to hire your company, so I guess that's something more.'

I actually had a person representing one company send me a text saying that he had called and I had not contacted him. He called and left a voice mail and e-mailed all in the same day, all of which I couldn't answer because I was at work so then I got a text at like 9 pm. I thought that was a little pushy.

It sounds like she wasn't trying to be rude or anything, but you're a business and you really need to make sure your emails convey a professional tone before each one you send out.A limo company sent me two of the most ridiculously unprofessional-looking emails. Not her tone, just no punctuation. A paragraph-long run-on sentence. Maybe some people don't care about spelling and grammar, but for a professional company that I'm paying a lot of money for, I do care!

I got the same email and the worst part is that she doesnt pay much attention to the information onthis board since this obviously where she got the information as she keeps reffering to my old wedding date.I agree i am sick of the pushy emails. I have now set-up a new email just for wedding stuff.

I too got the same email and I read it and thought I may have contacted her. But for her to be contacting me, I thought it was very informal. I'm not answering her. My theory is unless I have solicited you for information I don't have an obligation to answer you!

I find that if a person I've never met is TEXTING me to try to get my business, they are overstepping. Most of these vendors who buy brides' info have our email addresses, texting is just too comfortable for someone who is trying to get hired for a business transaction. Once I meet and book, it may be different.

I'm actually booked with her (prior to any emails) I know who it is bc she emailed my friend that email but in her defense she is super attentive in person and is super fun to work with! She had us laughing the whole time and i even mixed up am appt due to my baby brain and showed up 3 hours late and she wasn't even upset or anything! I don't think she meant to come across as rude, she really is a sweetheart!

I think this is the best piece of advice I have received from anyone since getting engaged. I always tell people to do this as soon as they get engaged!

I also have a separate email address just for wedding stuff. However, I recently went to a mini showcase at Sand Castle and inadvertently added my cell phone number to the sign up sheet! I thought the information was just for Sand Castle (that's our venue) but I have already received a couple of phone calls from random vendors at the showcase :(Welcome New Vendors
