What do you guys think of vendors who recommend other vendors? Are they usually a safe bet? Say like the Dj recommending a photogrpaher, or vise-versa? OR are they usually giving each other kickbacks???

it depends... in some situations i've asked vendors to recommend other vendors to me (like hair person for makeup person)
i get a little annoyed when the recommendation is volunteered. im sure they dont get kickbacks, but its more of a mutual referral situation.

I had asked my photographer for a videographer rec and he gave me a friend of his' name, and I thought that was a safe bet and was happy with it. For the most part, though, recommended vendors from the big places (like the RH) seem to get a little something or have an agreement. I actually did go with the recommended hotel for our RH and was very pleased.
