Can anyone explain to me how 2 different bridal shops conviently 'forget' to mention that they don't all anyone to get fittings on the weekend???!?!?!? I ordered my dress in Islip and my BM's ordered their dress in Patchogue and BOTH places are now telling me that they don't do fittings on the weekend even though they KNEW that I am from QUEENS and work in Manhattan all week and don't have the days to take off for fittings during the week!!!! I'm so mad right now! All of my girls are in Queens also (except 2) so how am I supposed to do this????

Re: VENT
Paradise Bridal. Why would they wait until after I have a contract- I'm furious!!! That's like saying that you're putting people that are browsing and POSSIBLY MAY buy their dress from you before PAYING customers!!!
The place that I got my dress at did the same thing but at least they're letting me come see my dress first thing on Saturday morning. These people CAN'T EXPECT me to ask 6 other people to take time off from work.

Re: VENT
i know that most bridal shops don't do fittings on weekends, but i'm sorry nontheless. it is very inconvient for you, and your bridal party. are they open later during the week so you could go later in the evenings to do you fittings?

Re: VENT
No, we all work in Manhattan until at least 5 every night (one of my BMs works until 7 most night) and by the time we'd drive out it would be too late

Re: VENT
I suggest that you explain the situation to the bridal shop and insist that they stay open a little late one night. I also suggest that in doing this you coordinate with you girls when would be the best night for you to all go together.

Re: VENT
I know- and I got my dress that I'm wearing at Adrienne's and they said the SAME thing!!! I was so annoyed that I asked to speak to the owner and she is FINALLY letting me SEE my dress this Saturday but there's no guarantee that I can even try it on!!!

Re: VENT
I can understand why it would be difficult for them to do a fitting on the weekends. I know how busy they are. Did you talk to them though? I would think they would want to work with you and make you happy, especially since they didn't tell you the whole story to begin with. I hope they make an exception for you.

Re: VENT
thanks- yes I did talk to them.
The thing that's annoying me the most is that basically in so many words they're telling me-
WE ARE PUTTING PEOPLE THAT ARE BROWSING AND MAY NOT EVEN BUY A DRESS WITH US IN FRONT OF YOU WHO ARE OUR PAYING CUSTOMER!! Talk about bad business tactics!!!

Re: VENT
Did you express your feelings about that to them? I totally agree with you on that. It makes no sense. I got my dress there too. Who did you work with? I worked with Donna who is very nice. We know her, she is a neighbor. But she is out sick now. Just to clarify this is regarding Paradise Bridal.

Re: VENT
Yes, I said that to them and it doesn't seem to phase them b/c they already have $$$. I worked w/ Ashley who is probably younger than I am (I'm 24) and she was great - her mom works there too (Liz) and when I started to get annoyed Ashley IMMEDIATELY told me to call Julia (who I spoke to today) and Julia then got defensive saying she didn't know why Ashley told me to contact her and that she would speak to the owner and blah blah blah.... they're supposed to call me on Monday now.

Re: VENT
I had the same problem and had to leave work early a couple of days for the fittings. There was no way around it.
The one that really killed me was when I picked up my gown - I could only pick up the gown on the days they did fittings. My sister could have picked up my gown for me any day but I couldn't!! How's that for BS??? They said it's because the brides sometimes want to put the gown on one last time and they want the seamstress there to iron it after it comes off.

Re: VENT
Both in midtown. I went to Metropolitan Impex on 6th ave b/t 35 & 36 and then I went around the corner for my jewelry about a block up- I forget the name of the place but they had TONS of costume jewelry
