we're getting ready to start assembling our invitations so I figured I'd take my sample to the Post Office to get it weighed just to double check the postage on it.
Get this.... our invites are the size and weight of a .58 cent stamp, although they decided to check the thickness using some cardboard template that they slide the invite through and they said that since it didn't go through the template with ease (because of the ribbons holding in our inserts) that it would cost .97 cents!! This is part of the new regualtions. Can you beleive that?? Ugh!! So our inivtes pass 2 out of 3 regualtions to make it .58
I hate the post office!! And of course the .97 stamps are so ugly!! So they suggested to put a .41 and a .58 cent wedding stamps on and we'd end up paying .99 then, but at least be able to use the wedding stamp still.
so aggravated!! going to try another Post Office and see what happens. otherwise it will be costing us almost $1.40 per invite!!

Re: vent about new POSTAGE regulations!!
Hey Stef...can you have the post office just stamp them with the machine so you dont have to deal with double stamps on the envelope? It wont look as nice but it might be easier than buying 2 different stamps. Im sorry you didnt pass all 3 of their stupid regulations. I went in to buy the inner envelope stamps and NO ONE could tell me when the wedding stamps would be out!! IDIOTS all of them I tell ya!! ~Nicole.V
I got my stamps from ZAZZLE.COM They were beautiful and matched the invitation.
One hint- the postage stamp was very big which was not a problem for the outer envelope but for the response card I had to cut them down some bc it covered a corner of the address. I'm not sure if the stamps I ordered came in that size only or if there are certain sizes. So just check out the stamp size before placing your order.
