Vent about Reception Hall

Vent about Reception Hall

Sorry so long... So some of you may remember that I wrote an earlier post how my reception hall wasn't returning my emails. Well today my mom, dad and FH all went to the hall because when my dad went the first time he couldn't really see the room because an affair was going on. The person we are dealing with at the hall was so rude to us! Granted, my dad can come off as being nasty, but we are the customer here and we are the ones paying all the money. Anyways, my dad tells the man that he wants him to run through everything. So the man starts by taking us through the lobby and what will happen when guests arrive blah, blah, blah. We then go into the ballroom and my dad started asking more questions and the man was very snotty and trying to rush us out. It was quite obvious that my dad wanted to sit down in the man's office and talk with him but the man would answer my dad's question quickly and twice started to shake our hands and say thanks for coming. My dad was like wait I have more questions. Then the man eventually says to my dad it is not your day, it is your daughter's day and she needs to be happy and my dad of course says to him, well I'm the one paying. Anyways, we basically got rushed out of there and the man was very rude. I still think my place is very nice and elegant, but I feel really bad that my dad isn't happy and I am not happy with the person we are dealing with. I want to call this man's boss (whoever it may be) but my parents said to just leave it alone because it will make things worse. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your hall. Maybe you could schedule an appointment to speak with someone else. Try to explain that you love it but, it's your parents are paying for it. You should be able to ask as many questions as you want. These places should be working for your business.
Good Luck!

Most reputable reception halls would be horrified to hear that one of their banquet manages behaved so rudely to a client. You are paying a hell of a lot of money, you have every right to ask as many questions as you'd like.

And I'm sorry, but being rude to my dad is just as bad as being rude to me, I don't care whose wedding it is. It's absolutely none of his business to tell your dad that as long as you like it that's what matters.

You're going to be working a lot with your hall, you want to make sure that you are going to enjoy the experience.

I would speak to the owner, or someone higher up, just as the girls said. Explain how you don't click, and feel very uncomfortable with his attitude toward you, and would like another BM who can better suite your questions and needs. Good Luck!!

Not acceptable at all. Make that call and talk to someone else and make a huge stink out of it. The squeaky wheel...

I would def call and speak to a manager and switch BM's. You will be dealing with that BM alot - and ALL of your father's questions should be answered - he plays a major part in the wedding (even though you as the bride is more important) but - that shouldnt concern the BM. Your father is paying for it, and he should be comfortable with the ppl you are dealing with - and he also wants to make sure that he covers anything that you might have forgotten to.

I would call - and just be nice - you usually get a better response when your nice as opposed to being aggitated!

Good Luck!!

you should definately try to change BM and speak to a higher up, that is ridiculous to be so rude!

I would definitely complain about how you were treated! Maybe they'll give you something for it!!! You're paying them!! They should accommodate you!!!

Well ladies I wanted to tell you what I decided to do. I decided to email the BM and let him know how I felt. I basically said in a professional manner that I was not happy with the way we were treated and that we are the customer and deserve to be treated with respect and should not be rushed when we visit. We will see what his response is. I now have another appointment at another reception hall tomorrow, just to take a look around. It was the only hall that I didn't see because my cousin had her wedding there and I wanted to be different. Her wedding was awesome and now I would like to see how much it is and what we would get for that price because we are paying a lot for my wedding now (more than we wanted to) and I feel like maybe I made the wrong choice now.

I would deffinitley call and talk to someone higher. You should not be treated like that they should treat you and your family like royalty. You are paying alot and the day must be perfect and now that just makes it another thing to worry about. Get this straightened out ASAP.

I think thats a good idea. FIrst of all you are the customer and they should treat you with courtesy and respect. Secondly, if they act like this now how much more stress will they add to your wedding planning later on? I don't think its right for any hall manager to act that way towards your dad!

I would definitely look at something else. Emailing him was a good idea...it ***** that they treated you like that and there is no reason for that! My BM spent 3 hours with us, then my FILs then my parents on 3 different occasions and walked all of us thru the same (explaining everything)-I hope it works out for you and he has a REALLY good reason for the way he treated you guys

Good Luck
