Okay, so I know I'm probably being ridiculous, but...one of my BMs who I've always had a love/hate relationship with (but also happens to be a friend I know the longest, hence lots of history here) just got engaged on Saturday. I was enagaged this past June and decided to wait until September to get married b/c May was already booked and good friends of ours are getting married in June and July. Well wouldn't you know she now wants to get married in either July or August. Of course I am dissappointed b/c we will have the exact same bridal party and alot of the same guests and ours will now be the last of four weddings. I know it shouldn't matter b/c I am marrying the guy I want to spend my life with and thats what's most important but I can't help feeling this way - like subconciously she's doing this on purpose. I am so evil but hoping that she won't be able to get a place with only seven months to plan. My mother even said she was surprised this girl didn't want to get married on my DATE!! Ha ha. Sorry for being a ***** but had to vent.

Re: Vent - Am I being ridiculous?
I have to say I disagree. My best friend and I are both getting married, 4 monthes between, and we are having soo much fun planning together!! We are both in each others weddings, and its fun to pick things out together. We were with each other when we both found our dresses!!. very exciting stuff. Try to look at it as a good thing. Your wedding is just as important!

Re: Vent - Am I being ridiculous?
My cousin did this to me. She was engaged for 2 years with no wedding plans. I get engaged, start planning & boom there she goes. On to top it all off, and what got me so mad, was that as soon as I started planning and told her 3 of my ideas, she did all 3! My family probably thought I copied off her! So don't you know I stopped telling her anything?!!
Maybe you can plan together but don't tell her what you are doing lol!

Look at it like this you will have a planning buddy. Don't worry about her stealing ideas, the greatest form of flattery is imitation. When I was planning and I shared my ideas, I did not care how many people used it, I was and still am flattered when people do Girl life is short enjoy the planning and the day on both sides.
Happy planning

I totally understand where you're coming from. It seemed like after we got engaged everyone and their mothers all of a sudden wanted to get married, especially cousins. Luckily, we set our date way in advance so if any family members want to get married they will have to work around us. One side of my family is very competitive.

Re: Vent - Am I being ridiculous?
All of the girls and guys in my circle of friends are all getting/have gotten married. Every year we have at least 3 weddings to go to. It stinks that you have to share being a bride! One of our ushers is getting married in April and it turns out his FW has ordered the same gown as me! At first I freaked But then I thought about it and she is keeping the sleeves(I'm not) hers is ivory(mine's white) we have totally different body types, and what am I going to do anyway At least I get to wear mine first

Re: Vent - Am I being ridiculous?
Similar situation..one of my best friends became engaged about a month after me. She was worried how I would take but actually I'm thrilled because we can plan together. Luckily our styles are very different so each wedding will be unique. However, when we were discussing dates she told me that she wanted a summer wedding. Mine was already set for 7/11. What she ended up booking was for April of the same year - 2004. Now hwe wedding will be before mine. Here is how I look at it. Hwe wedding will come first and she will have her day and I will be thrilled for her, being a bridesmaid and best friend. However, 3 months later it's my turn and the attention will be focused on me. Sounds a little harsh but it's not meant to be. Just think...you'll be the last one and everyone will remember. All your newlywed friends will not be thought of as newlyweds that day because it is your day. The most important thing is to enjoy the planning process with your friend (that is if you can). Hope this helps.

Re: Vent - Am I being ridiculous?
My girlfriend who got married this past October had a similar problem. I had to talk her out of changing her wedding date because as soon as they became engaged, all of her husband's friends started 'racing them to the altar.' She was so upset - one of his friends asked him to be an usher 2 weeks before their own wedding! In the end, it all worked out - her wedding was wonderful, everyone had a great time and the other weddings that were in such a hurry to be before theirs had wedding day dramas that had all their guests talking...
Try not to let it get to you... besides, being the last wedding of your friends usually means a lot more celebrating!!
