Vent - annoyed with wedding costs and vendors

So after last night's DJ nonsense, I got to thinking -- there was no way the price we were quoted was fair, it was at least $500 or more too high. So did this vendor decide to give us some high price because they knew we are both lawyers and they figure we make a lot of money? Is is because I come over after work in a nice dress so they figure this a person who can afford it? It just really upset me and stressed me out. Do the vendors not know we talk to each other and that I walked into that meeting knowing EXACTLY what I should be charged? Does anyone else feel this way?????

Don't tell them what you do for a living next time. Sit there and pretend you are poor. LOL. Seriously though- that is outrageous. Just move on to the next vendor- you can find someone so much better for less. Did you check out FM Entertainment?

Not sure about your vendor I never tell them I am a lawyer up front and he's an accountant becasue some do assume things about finances.

I knwo those of us that looked at FM for Dj were all quoted same as their packages are posted online so they kind of have to be uniform. I did fin some NYC vendors were a lot more.

i really think it depends on vendor and also thatis why we all need to shop around a bit

That is so ridiculous. I would just forget about them and move on to the next vendor. Definitely check out FM Entertainment.

I really do not think it has anything to do with your career. I have been qouted by one dj something similar to what you have been quoted and they did not have a clue what I do for living. It just that some vendors are really that expensive For what I do not know.

Honestly I don't think you were personally quoted a high price based on careers and/or dress. I think that company is a well known name in music and they just have higher prices for everything. It's like a brand name. Some cost more than others.

some vendors are more pricey than others....and some vendors raise their prices every so often - especially when they are in demand....maybe thats what happened? i also think that some people are shady and it could very well be that they gave you an overpriced quote on purpose....did you try to talk them down?

When I meet with vendors, I personally do not divulge anything to them. Alot of vendors, charge alot more than they would anyone else because it's a wedding. Once they hear that word the prices inflate like a 'hot air' balloon.

Try some other vendors because their are plenty.

well every vendor is going to have different prices, some are more expensive than others. I know of some dj companies where theres a 2k difference and even if you get all the same things. Its just the way it is and if youre not happy with the price dont worry there are other vendors who will charge less for the same thing.

Honestly, i dont think it has to do with occupation. Infact, FH and I never were asked what we do, it never came up

ive gone to vendor meetings dressed yo bc most of them i went after work.

ETA: which DJ did you see, im sure many of us can tell you whether or not they are more pricey than others
