Vent - Anyone send out an evite...

...and see that people have viewed the invitation but haven't responded? It drives me nuts! There's a maybe option, so even if you're not sure, you CAN respond.

My birthday (4/30) falls on Passover this year, so I can't go out to eat or drink. I decided to have some friends over to hang out, drink some Kosher wine, snack, and play some games. A nice relaxing night. A few people replied right away, but there are 12 people who have looked at the evite and said nothing. I don't know why it bothers me so much, but it does!

yeah, that's happened to me before.....i kinda want to say 'what are you waiting for?'

maybe they have to check w/ their SOs, or they need to check their calendars, and keep forgetting!!

I guess it's b/c i'm such an immediate responder that it drives me nuts.

I know there are plenty of legit reasons for waiting to respond, but for a few of my friends, I feel like they take the stance of, 'let me see what other offers I get that night, and then I'll decide what I want to do.' I'm more of the type to make a committment right away, and turn down any subseqent offers.

I can't stand Evites.
I don't like when they are sent to me and I'm totally guilty of ignoring them. I'm just not a fan of the entire program... how you can see what you respond etc. I know there are alot of other people who feel the same way...

Maybe they prefer a personal email?
I know I would. I can understand if you don't want to send invites via mail or call the person, but sending a personal email to each friend might be a better way to get a response.

I can definitely see what you're saying. I love evite as a host b/c it's an easy way to keep responses organized. As a guest, I like being able to see who's coming to the party. I never really thought about everyone being able to see my response, but I can understand why that can make some people uncomfortable.

While those people who don't respond do kind of bother me, the real people who bother me are the ones who view the evite every day and don't respond. I don't know if people know this, but if I send out an evite, it tells me when a person views the invite. If you go to it every day it will show me every day. That just shows me those people are seeing who are going and are not coming for me or DH......

I stopped with evite after the last party we had. So many people responded the day of (I didn't even have a computer at home back then) when i guess the guest list was up to there standard. These were the same people who checked every day to see who responded yes. Pissed me off and showed me those people are not truly friends with me and DH.

That is why i don't invite them anymore. Made me realize who my true friends are.
