Okay, so a new bride posted a Q about how to negotiated with a hall. I responded to this by stating halls love cash, and how you can sometimes get extras thrown in, etc. and I also commented about how paying all in cash can help sometimes with things like tax. (Yes I know it's illegal NOT to charge tax, as some of you stated, but let's be realistic...some smaller halls will magically reduce some of the tax when you pay cash...it DOES happen ocasionally.)

Well anyway--my problem is this: I don't know who did it, whether it was the original poster of this thread, or someone who read it--visited my hall, (Watermill) and proceeded to tell the BM there that I had stated that I got a break on tax there because I paid cash, and then proceeded to use my first name and wedding date from my profile--as if they know me personally or something--saying that they saw me post on a website that i got the tax comped or something!! If you read the post (i will bump it), i NEVER EVER said that MY HALL did this...i said in GENERAL it can happen.

On Saturday night, I get a phone call from my BM asking me if I was going around telling people this, and if I did it was not good information to be spreading. Of course I had to explain the situation...but it really ticked me off that someone used my info to try and get a deal like that.

So whoever did this--please get your facts straight before you start using other people's comments and information!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Pretty shady thing to do on their part.

Damn that is messed up....I can't believe someone would do that. Hopefully your hall understood although there is no way you should have had been put in that situation, especially since you were trying to help.

It really is sad that some people who are here would do that. We are all here for help and that kind of $hit doesnt make anyone want to give advice...

That's really tacky that someone would do that. Sorry that you got that phone call and had to explain yourselve which you shouldn't have to.

That *****. I'd be pretty pissed off about that. Ladies, we really need to be considerate of others. If you want to use someone's name, information etc. please ask that person first AND get your facts straight. I would be extremely pissed if that happened to me!

i'm so glad you all feel the same way i do! i was beginning to think maybe i was overreacting for being mad. i just hope whoever did it--has the guts to come clean to me and admit it....and apologize!!

And you're NOT overreacting - someone had the balls to go to the hall and name names, they should have the balls to come clean on here.

we're okay now. the phone call started off a little awkard--kind of like 'Um...I have a question to ask you' you could tell he wasn't sure how to approach the issue. then i explained it all to him of what i actually said versus what this person said...and i told him he could check it for himself on here if he wanted....but he was like 'i figured it was a misunderstanding...but i had to make sure.' he's a very great guy...we've gotten along nicely since our first visit there...thank goodness!!

OMG I can't believe that someone would go there. I am glad to hear that the BM called you and was able to hear your explanation. I would never expext something like that to happen. We are here to help each other out not to screw things for one another. And no you are NOT overreacting.
