Okay, so a new bride posted a Q about how to negotiated with a hall. I responded to this by stating halls love cash, and how you can sometimes get extras thrown in, etc. and I also commented about how paying all in cash can help sometimes with things like tax. (Yes I know it's illegal NOT to charge tax, as some of you stated, but let's be realistic...some smaller halls will magically reduce some of the tax when you pay cash...it DOES happen ocasionally.)

Well anyway--my problem is this: I don't know who did it, whether it was the original poster of this thread, or someone who read it--visited my hall, (Watermill) and proceeded to tell the BM there that I had stated that I got a break on tax there because I paid cash, and then proceeded to use my first name and wedding date from my profile--as if they know me personally or something--saying that they saw me post on a website that i got the tax comped or something!! If you read the post (i will bump it), i NEVER EVER said that MY HALL did this...i said in GENERAL it can happen.

On Saturday night, I get a phone call from my BM asking me if I was going around telling people this, and if I did it was not good information to be spreading. Of course I had to explain the situation...but it really ticked me off that someone used my info to try and get a deal like that.

So whoever did this--please get your facts straight before you start using other people's comments and information!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MJDoc12 I've got your back!! Its really crappy someone would do that! I mean, come on, some dignity and respect please? If it occurs again...THE NINA PINEDA will have to go out there and open a can of new mexico whoop a with hot tabasco on top!!!

Glad it all got settled with your BM though!

You are absolutely right for being mad! I would be so upset. I'm sorry you were put in an embarassing situation like this. Whoever did it should apologize and explain the situation to the hall.

Wow, I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I clearly remember your post and at NO POINT did you say that YOU weren't paying tax. To whomever made that call to the Watermill: Critical reading skills are crucial!

You know another thought...

It's no secret that vendors lurke on these boards, it could have easily been a vendor who didn't like what you said and wanted you to know it. Now being a fellow Watermillie, I'd like to think that isn't the case, but you just never know.

Its a shame that people can't be considerate! I guess this teaches us all a lesson to be careful what you say on here girls! Every situation is different and no one should use anyone else's name on here unless you are referred by them..as far as limo, dance lessons, florists... when It comes to halls unless u know the owner and the person is your best friend.. NEVER NEVER use a name without permission.. you can really sc**w someone! I am sorry girl that you had to deal with it! I'm scared now to even post what quotes I get now...

I can't believe that some people would stoop so low and do something like that knowing whole heartedly that they can get someone they don't even know in trouble! That's why I always think twice before posting something...u never know what some people might intend doing with the information u put out

Wow, that is so terrible. It definitely wasn't me(I'm the original poster), if you look at my other posts you will see that i'm still trying to decide between Westbury or Leonards and I hven't visited your hall. I'm sorry somebody did that. I thought your post was very helpful and I decided that when I went back to the halls a second time I would ask if there were any benefits to paying in cash. I don't think anyone should go to a hall and say 'so and so said you did this' without getting permission of the person. Hopefully you can work out the misunderstanding with your hall. Its terrible that someone would do such a thing.

That is really not cool! I would have been seriously p*ssed if that happened to me. I am sorry you had to deal with that MJDoc12 when all you were trying to do was help. When people do things like that it makes others leary of posting and that makes it bad for the rest of us who truly appreciate all of the advice you ladies give on here. If it wasn't for all of your advice I wouldn't have even known where to start with my planning!

You are not over-reacting at all! That is really messed up of someone to do that and I would be pissed as well! I am glad everything got straightened out with your BM. That really does stink that this happened.
