Vent... No Honeymoon.... bittersweet.

So FH and I have been putting off planning our honeymoon b/c it wouldn't happen until 3 months after our wedding (I work in a public school, so the honeymoon would have to wait til the summer!) and also bc he was laid off in September and didn't know what his job situation was going to be. Well we just found out today that he got a job in law enforcement...which is amazing b/c it's what he's wanted for a long time... buuuut, his training is going to be 6 months long and end in August...which means no honeymoon until the following summer :(

I have to keep it in perspective.. It's great that he got a job and it will help us greatly with our finances and with our future. But I can't help but feel slightly disappointed...

Just had to vent!

A friend of mine went to Maine and LOVED it. You can also look into bed & breakfasts & the Poconos!

Why dont you go for a long weekend? Or a 3 day weekend? There are plenty of places that you can go. Kennebunkport Maine is amazing or Niagra Fall? You could also fly to Chicago or go to Virginia Beach!

There's also so many cruises out of Manhattan - There's a cruise 'to nowhere' that's for 1 night...or a few days to go to the Bahamas! Check out Royal Caribbean!

Re: Vent... No Honeymoon.... bittersweet.

Thanks for the suggestions! It'd have to be only a 2 day thing since his academy will be Monday-Fri. But a special two-night trip could definitely make me feel better!

Vent... No Honeymoon.... bittersweet.

A mini moon was exactly what I was thinking. Then next year you could do a one year anniversary honeymoon during Spring Break (which is in April closer to your anniversary) or like your original plan, over the summer. That way your FH finishes his academy and you are more settled financially as a couple. It may even be bigger and better than your original plans if it had happened this year. I totally understand being upset though! I guess try to see the positives in the situation and not focus on the negatives.

Re: Vent... No Honeymoon.... bittersweet.

A mini moon is a great way to still have some away-time with your hubby! :) Even a quick two-day getaway will be a nice break until you can go on your official honeymoon. You might even be able to save up some more money for nice upgrades on your honeymoon too

Re: Vent... No Honeymoon.... bittersweet.

My fiance is a teacher and we're getting married 4 weeks before spring break. We're getting married on Friday 3/14/14, and then going away for the weekend for a 'mini-moon' then in April we'll take our real honeymoon! I hope this helps!
