Vent... not happy about our tuxedo experience today...

Vent... not happy about our tuxedo experience today...

So, we went to VIP in Mass...

I thought I liked them at a bridal show I went to in April.

They originally offered me the free groom's tux and 50% off my dad's tux PLUS a free cleaning and boxing my MY gown for free at their cleaners. Okay....

So, an hour later, my fiance tries on a million different tuxes, and we find what we really like. We write everything up. Then I ask him what the tuxes cost... he says $135. I ask what my 3 year old nephew's will cost for being the ringbearer. He says 'the same.'. Well, this concerned me because my brother is in the bridal party, and he's the ringbearer's father, and I don't want my brother to have to shell out $270 for TWO full price tuxes, so I said, 'You know what... can you forget the free cleaning of my dress and just make another tux 50% off?' I even showed him a competitor's coupon I have (S&S Tuxedos in Hicksville) with that EXACT offer (free groom and 2 tuxes at 50% off with four paid tuxes... we had EIGHT full paid tuxes!). He said no. Wouldn't budge. My dad asked me right in front of him why I picked this place, and I said because I liked it at a bridal show, but it was only my first place. I told the guy I just couldn't see spending $135 on a 3 y/o's tuxedo. He said we could always buy a standard one for him for $90, but it wouldn't be the style we wanted (to match the groom). So, we walked out... and he let us! Lost an over $1000 rental order to save $75. And it's not really saving that $75 because I was willing to swap out the gown cleaning to save the 50% for my brother's son! I was just aggravated because we would have been done, and he let us walk out. I even said how I know another girl on liweddings only paid $75 for her 3 y/o ringbearer, so I thought $135 was ridiculous, and he wasn't budging.

Can anyone recommend anywhere else?

The good news is, now we know EXACTLY what we want, AND I took pics so it will be easier next time!

Roger's Tuxedos in Smithtown (Centereach & Babylon). They went ABOVE AND BEYOND especially given FH and FBIL are 6' 9' + and 15 shoes size and they didn't have many choices. They even special ordered shirts for them!!

we went to Mens Wearhouse, and had a great experience, but the ring bearer's tux was the same price as the other tuxes...

We used Sal's in Massapequa on Broadway (it's a couple of miles south of VIP.)

We are using Rogers Tuxedos in Smithtown, and I believe they have other locations. The customer service was amazing and we are so looking forward to working with them...HTH!

That's crazy....obviously a terrible sales person. You shold call or write the manager (assuming he isn't the owner/manager) and let them know.

I just want to say...I hate tuxedo places.. with the exception of the one my Dad is using, (just for his tux) I hate the rest,

PS. Dad is using Tony's Tuxedo's in Miller Place and Salvatore is very nice!

Rogers in Babylon...David is wonderful there...funny and really easy to work with. He's very willing to accomodate your needs.

How horrible that you had to go through that. And what an incompetent salesman you had to deal with! Definitely call up the manager and see what you can do about it. The guy should be reprimanded for losing such a big sale.

And if you're looking to buy a tux, you can get it for 40-60 bucks online or at department stores.

pinkprincess.com has some too. The tux don't have to look exactly like what your FH will wear. People don't really look that closely at tuxes anyway unless it's a different hue/color.

Good luck!

Thats soo wrong. Try Feldman Esquire on Merrick Road in Bellmore or they have a location in Lynbrook. This was two years ago, but we got everything for $108 including tax and DH, my stepson and our nephew's tuxes were all free because we got 11 total. They are great to work and bargain with and we really got a great deal and the tuxes looked great!!

We're also using the Smithtown location. The tuxes were a lot less expensive than $135, but we don't have a RB, so I don't know if the price would have been the same.
