I am not close with my father and his stupid girlfriend had asked him if he was walking me down the isle, coming in the limo with me, dancing with me... ( my father would not have known that all that was even an option for him,he just doesnt get this stuff) so now it will 'be his honor ' to walk me down the isle- I wanted my brother to do it. So I have been convinced to let him 'be honored' , now I working on the dancing, I would rather not dance with him, I'd like to dance with my brother, but no thats going to look bad .. -so now im searching for a song for he and I to dance to.. Isnt this MY WEDDING?? Why does things have to be Politically correct. Anyway So , how does this sound.. ? Have both my brother and father walk me down do a father /daughter dance do a brother /sister dance
does anyone know of a good brother/sister song? when can I have this dance I dont want to do them back to back..

if you arent close with your father let your brother walk you down the aisle. there is no sense in putting up a front for one day. so what if he will be honored, like what does that mean if u guys arent even close. remember it is your day and you can do as you please!

Ahhhhhhhhh I totaly feel your pain. I told my real dad he wasn't walking me down the isle and his intial response what 'let me go crawl in a hole.' He doesn't get he left us 22 years ago and thinks he deserves it. Now he desided he doesn't want to come to my wedding at all. His loss!!
Now, back to you.....Depending on the relationship w/your dad would help you to pick the song. you raise me up by Josh Groban is a great brother/sister song. I am using that for my step dad and I. Good luck.

There is a song called 'He aint heavy he is my brother' it is actually a really nice song:

I agree... it's your day, if you want your brother to walk you down the aisle and dance with you, he should be the one doing it.

you can also have your father walk you half-way down the aisle and your brother walk you the rest of the way (or vice versa)...same with the dance, you can begin the dance with one and end with the other

Honestly if you are not close with your Dad...I wouldnt...you dont want to regret ANYTHING. IF you are that close to your Bro have him walk you down. I know you prob dont want to hurt anyone...I would be the same way...so then I would def do both!!! Maybe you can dance to wind beneath my wings? That song is always a tear jerker

i really think you should have a one on one with your father and explain that as much as you want to do the 'traditional' things with him, in your heart you want to share those things with your brother, if he is stand up, he'll understand, bow out and do so without laying any guilt trip-from that point on what ever anyone else's opinion is- doesn't matter..

My wish is a good song
I would dance with your dad, if you have to, in the begining of the night, and with your brother I would dance when you normally dance the father daughther dance

Re: ...vent! questions!
this is YOUR wedding - not his. You have to do what you feel is right & not bend your will to let others do what they want.
If you cannot sit down and talk to your dad about how you want to share these things with your brother...what about having your dad walk you HALFWAY up the aisle and have your brother be waiting there for you to walk you the rest of the way?

Re: ...vent! questions!
IMO, this is your day to share with those who helped you get to this point in your life. It is your chance to make each of those people see how you appreciate their support and love over the years. I am now married and put 100% into my wedding, what you need to realize is that the things people say matter or 'have to be done' do not have to be done. IT IS YOUR DAY! Suddenly you need to bend over bakcwards and worry about everyone who has not worried about you in the past. Dance with your brother, walk with your brother, do what is right in your heart!! What I realized when I danced with my mom is that we cuold have been in an empty room, it was about her and I. Those are the moments you will take away from your wedding. Do what you want to last in your memory! If you are going to include your father, make in in addition to your brother, not your brother in addition to your father if your brother is that close to you. Follow your heart

Hey Sorry to crash, I am an 09er, but I just wanted to say I know exactly how you feel and I truly truly believe that this is YOU AND YOUR FH'S day and you should not do anything you feel strongly against going. My father and I are not close at all so he is NOT walking me down the aisle. My Mommy is! And that is that. He doesn't like it, oh well. I will dance with him as a courtesy but that is it. I really would just do what you want to do. He will understand if the reasons are obvious! Just my take on things! I hope this helps!

Re: ...vent! questions!
Remember that this is your wedding day - I can tell you that I had always planned to have my big brothers walk me down the aisle ..then my dad passed away and more than anything I wish he were here if only for that....have both of them walk you down the aisle someday you will be happy thast you did. When you get the the first row have your dad sit down and then have your brother 'give you away' - skip the father daughter dance and dance with your brother if that is what you want. No matter what your day will be splendid !!
