This was from the Neurologists office, not the OB/GYN. Otherwise I would have been seeking alternative Dr's to deal with for the next 6 months! Anyway...
I took 7 vials of blood with 8 needle pricks for a naseating 5 hour glucose test. I was told my results would be back on Thursday, latest Friday.
I call late Thursday and the test results extension goes right to the voicemail. I leave a message.
I call mid morning Friday, get a human being who says let me take a quick look and call you right back.
I call at 4 o'clock demanding an answer, are they back or not??? Get put on hold. They come back on the phone and say yes, they are back... la di da....??? OK????? WHAT ARE THE RESULTS???? LOW? HIGH? NORMAL????
Oh, all the doctors are gone for the day. Dr. ------- will have to get back to you on Tuesday... Tuesday? TUESDAY! You want me to wait until TUESDAY? Well you can try calling Monday and if someone is available to read them, then we can give you an answer before Tuesday. WHy don't you try calling us back again on Monday.
MORONS!
So in the meantime, I have to get a glucose monitor~thank heaven for EBAY~and track it myself...which was rather good advice from another one of the 100's of Doctors I have seen this week. ATleast I can check it each time I get dizzy.

Re: <VENT> Quite PO'd at a DR.'s Office
I am hoping that if the results were anyting for you to worry about they would have told you immediately!!! Its a great idea to get your own monitor.
It's not life threatening, but come on! I called three times and they should have atleast had the courtesy to call back!

Re: <VENT> Quite PO'd at a DR.'s Office
I had GD. If you want to test your blood in the morning. Do so before you eat or drink anything. Your number needs to be UNDER 90. There are different schools of thoughts on post meal numbers. My endo used a 120 1-hour post meal number to regulate me. But I know the StonyBrook nutrionist I saw used 140 2-hour post meal. I used the StonyBrook nutrionist meal plan with my endo's regulations. My baby was under 8lbs and neither of us had ANY sugar issues afterwards. If you have any questions let me know.
Re: <VENT> Quite PO'd at a DR.'s Office~Results are back and read, FINALLY!
Thank you! Mine actually is the exact opposite. After drinking the glucose, three hours later, my sugar went down to 60! I was told by the DR when you are pregnant, it usually tends to be a bit higher, but not much. So I guess I am hypoglycemic after all... Atleast I am not going crazy. I know I feel like garbage if I don't eat, so I guess the test is just a confirmation. I have been carrying Blow Pops and Tootsie Pops now, I hope that will help when it goes that low...

Drink a glass a milk when you feel your sugar is low! That is what I was told to do.
You will need to be very careful during labor since your sugar usually drops naturally.
