I dont know if anyone else has this problem but I am very upset about it. I've made 2 appointments previously to go to davids bridal and alfred angelo to look at dresses and my mom says shell go and then last minute doesnt want to for no reason. I made an appt 2 months ago to go to Kleinfelds for this weekend and in the beginning she was all excited to go and now she says she doesnt want to go because there is too much to do around the house. I live in pennsylvania so its an all day thing to go to the city to look at dresses and the main reason I wanted to go to Kleinfelds is because my mom got her dress from there 35 years ago and I thought she would love to go with me now. I dont know what to do. I understand the whole empty nest syndrome because I'm the youngest and all but still its my wedding and she should be happy and make me happy not make me sad sorry this is so long and thanks for listening

Aww, sweetie...I'm sorry to hear that. Perhaps it is the empty nest syndrom that you wrote about? Are you and your mom close? Can you have a heart-to-heart with her about all of this?

I am so sorry Maybe you can talk to her about it and tell her how much it would mean for her to go with you. Explain how you were looking forward to going with her. I am sorry, I hope it works out well.

My older sister got married 4 years ago and my mom was all into it. I think thats why I am so upset about how she is acting. If she hated the wedding process with my sis i wouldnt care as mch but she was all about it... idk its really hard to understand why she is being like this.

strange I would try talking to her in any case, no matter of how of a hassle that is. this definitely requires a discussion

I'm so sorry!
Like the other girls suggested, try sitting down with her and having a chat and explaining how much it means for you to have her go with you.

I'm really sorry. If she was all excited with your sister, it is probably because she doesn't want to see you go. Maybe you can just ask her without actually turning it into a whole heart to heart?

So sorry to hear that. IS there anyone else you can make the trip with or is your heart set on your mom? Maybe if you make plans with a friend/sister or other wonderful person and let your mom know... she will feel your excitement and jump on board??? Does she know how excited you were and how much you're looking forward to it?

Re: Vent: Sad
Im sorry you are going through this. Maybe you can emphasize how important it is for her to come with you. I'm sure the reason is that she doesn't want to see you go, and that it was probably tough for her to 'lose' her first daughter. I think she needs to know that she needs to be as equally excited for you as she was for your sister.

Re: Vent: Sad
awwww. I am having this same problem with my mom with every other aspect of the wedding planning process except for the dress so far. At first it was issues on how she felt about my 'not so in the picture' dad giving me away and we have since fixed that situation. But still she just not that into it when it come to all the booking and planning. She didn't go to my recent food tasting as well. My FMIL has so far been apart of everything and is so excited and wants to be involved. My mom got emotional when I tried on dresses but for everything else, its just not her cup of tea. We all have so much drama at times with this wedding planning stuff. Its just so important to make you and your FH happy. If I were you I would talk to her even if it get emotional just to let her know how you feel. It is the only way she'll know.

Re: Vent: Sad
my mom didn't want to hear a word about the wedding at first, but we are very close and she told me that i'm her only child and she just cant deal with letting me go. she's happy for me but sad for herself. So i told her that im not leaving her im just getting married lol. I don't live at home now anyway i live with FH, so not too much would be changing. Now she's non stop calling me with ideas for the wedding,
Its better to let the issues come out into the open and if she needs time to come to terms with this you should give it to her. They are our parents, they love us and they are happy for us but we are always little in their eyes and therefore they get upset when grown up things start happening in our lives. They are never 'ready' for it.

Re: Vent: Sad
It sounds like denial to me. I would sit her down and ask what's up. Sounds like she's trying to put it off as much as possible so she doesn't have to face the reality of her youngest daughter leaving. Once she faces it, it'll be much easier.
