VENT... Sorry long...FILs and their BABY!!!

VENT... Sorry long...FILs and their BABY!!!

FH has a nephew who is only 15 months old. I didn't want any kids in the 'ceremony'. No kids walking down the isle because I just don't want the babies to start crying and ruin the 'mood' of a spiritual wedding and have everyone lauph at them cry. So, Through out I made it clear that I didn't want him as a ring boy or walk down the isle.

This sunday, they tell me how they are walking with him down the eisle. They just ASSUMED he is walking and bought him a tux and all - without even asking.

Now let me mention how the baby is not a calm quiet baby by any means!!!! He is a very 'free willed' baby!

I really didn't want him to walk down. And, when FH called and told them that, WHAT A MESS OCCURED!!!!! His sister - the babies mother - said she is not coming to the wedding and how can we not allow this precious BABY walk down the isle!!!!

I am just so upset! We told them they can have him walk - its one day and too close for me to stress over it - but I hate that! He is going to cry and ruin it all! What kinda of parents PUSH their baby on someone!!!! if someone doesn't want them walking down the isle why would you force it!?!?!?!?!

I am just so sad about all this

Wow - I'm sorry. What is it about people threatening to not come to the wedding? How selfish can you be! Unfortunately, my parents have pulled this type of S**T on me at the last minute, regarding other circumstances of course, but still! I always wonder if they were in our shoes what they would do. I do believe that you should stick to your guns though. This is YOUR wedding and don't let her threaten you with ultimadums! I hope things work out okay.

I'm so sorry - I would be very upset too...

I don't have any words of advice.

HANG IN THERE!

If it wasn't this, it would be something else. It's always something...you know? There just has to be a way of pushing through it while maintaining your poise.

I kinda figured this is one day, and I don't want to start on a bad foot with the inlaws. If their PRECIOUS baby is not in the wedding, I don't think they would ever forgive me! So.. what ever. If he cries, I will bring it up to them, again.. and again... and again...

you should definitely tell them (not ASK THEM) that if he misbehaves or cries, they need to take him outside. I would tell them that you've been dreaming about your wedding day since you're 5 yrs old and you don't want to have your ceremony ruined by a screaming baby!

Re: VENT... Sorry long...FILs and their BABY!!!

I can't believe it - I'm in the EXACT SAME SITUATON AS YOU!!!!!!!!

FIL's son will be 2.8 at our wedding - which is better than 15 months - but despite my telling FH that I dont want any children at the wedding, FIL's have already said something about their son being at the reception.

The nerve of some people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: VENT... Sorry long...FILs and their BABY!!!

My DH's brother has a daughter that is 3 years old. They went out and bought her a flower girl dress right before the wedding. We had asked people to be in the wedding party a year before the wedding. After they purchased the dress they called my DH and asked him if 'Ariel need a certain dress for the wedding.' My husband said no. Then they asked if we needed her to throw petals at the wedding (i.e. Flower girl). My husband told them that the children were invited to the wedding but we were not having any children in the wedding party. To top it all off they did bring their 3 week old son to the wedding and took over my bridal suite as a nursery so I couldn't even use the private bathroom! People are so rude!

me too! Try not be upset, they were out of line for assuming he would walk down the aisle, and for there attitude. It's your day, your way, don't forget that.

You know, I can't stand that people just assume that everyone else will love thier children, or think that it's 'precious'. I know a lot of people (some of them are related to me) that didn't have a single child at there wedding, and have since called to ask if they could bring there children along with them to family parties. It's really rude.

Re: VENT... Sorry long...FILs and their BABY!!!

You are a much better person than me. I would have told her if she didn't understand that she was being rude by renting a tux and expecting him to be a wedding he wasn't asked to be in, than she could stay home. I would be absolutely furious.

And just so you know, most of my wedding drama, like my FMIL wearing white, is just rolling off my back so you know this is way out of line for her to do!

I had my FH brother's GIRLFRIEND say right in front of her son(no relation to FH or his brother)- 'isn't Johnny going to make a cute Ring bearer?' Luckily her son is 8 and I told her I would make him a junior usher- PLEASE-THESE PEOPLE ARE WAY OUT OF LINE!

Nothing is going to ruin your day.....unless you allow it to.
Whether it be a FMIL wearing white, or a screaming 15 month old walking down the aisle...Dont allow these people to get you all upset for nothing.

Your day is still going to be YOUR DAY..and NO ONE can take that from you!!

Try not to think about it and PLEASE dont argue with your FH...this should be the happiest time for both of you..

Honestly would be sooo mad! Who does that
Anyway, hang in there, who knows - he may be super duper cute and you wont even be in there yet anyway, besides once the doors open all eyes are on you

& breathe! Everything will be o.k.

Wow - I can totally relate!! As I posted about my 'no kids' request, I am having issues as well. This is bad & for the sister to say she wasn't going, pretty IMMATURE of her. Give me a break, it's her brother's wedding. What is wrong with people?????????? So sorry you have to deal with this. I would stick to your ground. That is ridiculous that they are mad over a kid not being able to walk down the aisle.
