VENT - The $30K Dress..
sorry if this is long - to get the full effect of my story it needs to be told in order...
a few weeks after i got engaged i was flying to mexico with FH and reading martha stewart weddings. i turn the page and passed a RIVINI ad. i kept flipping. a moment later the picture registered in my head and i flipped back to the ad.
there i saw it in all of its glory,

it instantly became my #1 'i have to try it on' dress.
no other dress compared.
soo fast forward to about a month ago. i call kleinfelds to make my appointment. they ask me what im looking for. i tell them i NEED to try on RIVINI's Kobe gown. they transfer me to Lee who says shell call me back and let me know. a few hours later i get the call, she says its all set and the dress should be in for my appointment.
fast forward again to last monday, 4 days before my appointment. i get a voicemail, its lee. she says that although they were able to get the dress in, the designer needed it back for a show, so unfortunatly it would not be in for my appt. im kinda bummed but its my first real dress shopping so i dont let it get me down. i go to my appt and enjoyed it but didnt find 'the one.'
so two days ago i call kleinfelds to make another appt and re-request the dress. they say they are transfering me to lee, but a man answers, who says his name is angel. i tell him i was working with lee on a dress and he says that shes no longer with the company. so i say OK then you can help me.
i tell him about the RIVINI gown and request it, and two other gowns before scheduling my next appointment. he puts me on hold. when he comes back he says 'i know why the RIVINI wasnt here. they dont send that dress out, you have to work directly with the designer if you are interested in that dress.'
so of course i say 'why would they do that? don't they want people to be able to see samples and buy this dress?'
to which he says, 'oh its common for companys to do this when the dress is worth over $30,000.'
why would they advertise this dress??
just to break my heart??
ok this whole wedding i have oddly been attracted to things that are more expensive than i anticipated.
but this one takes the cake!!
thanks for listening. i KNOW you will all understand..
