Vent: Why do FMIL and FSIL get involved....

with MYYYYY guest list!!!!!!!!! If you're paying for the whole wedding...then by all means, do whatever you want! Does anyone else have this problem?

FH and I want a city wedding...we are not paying $215 per person for people WEEEE don't want there!!!!! The plan was to have 160 tops!!!! Now, all of a sudden it's over 200 people.....***.

FH said I'm not allowed to vent to anyone except to you girls on LIW so there it goes!!!

I guess I will have to have an LI wedding so that we can invite whoever THEY WANT and I will be the most miserable bride on her wedding day, not knowing more than half the people at my wedding.....:

That stinks, does FH want these people there? Does he want a LI wedding, are FMIL/FSIL helping pay? My FMIL has a guest list of 120 but she is paying for her list! You should have a heart to heart with FH about what you two want, and you should be able to talk/vent to him!!! GL I hope it works out for you!

Don't do it. Seriously. I've heard from so many people that the smaller the wedding, the better. It's one thing if you have a huge family and lots of friends and coworkers to invite. But people you don't even know? This is YOUR wedding, it's not time for your future in-laws to show off or pay back their social dues. Put your foot down. You'll be much happier. I'm SO glad we're having a very small wedding--not that the family would push us to invite people, but still, one thing I'm really looking forward to is being able to talk to all our guests. You don't want to walk past people and say 'who's that?' at your own wedding.

and the fewer people you have, the better stuff you can have for everything. You can have much nicer favors if you have fewer people, for example. Or nicer invitations, and still stick to your budget.

Good luck.

I'm having the same problem... but with my stepmother and her side of the family... she's not been in our lives that long (3 yrs) and I don't feel comfortable inviting her entire side of the family...

In the end, you have to be happy, so don't change the affair if you're not going to be happy...

The way I feel about it is that it's 6 hours of a day... they will get over it...

good luck!

Oh girl I feel your pain. My FMIL and FSIL have been the biggest pain in my *** since we got engaged. They arent paying for the reception eiter but they feel like they can run my wedding. My FH is stuck in the middle but he seriously needs to cut the cord from mommy dearest. Plus I dated him for 8 1/2 years before we got engaged and this came out of no where. Just feel better knowing a lot of girls are going through the same thing you are.

Thank you everyone!!! I appreciate everything you've said!!!! I hate this.....starting off on a bad foot from day 1....

FH just needs to tell them to mind their own business....IT'S OUR LIFE, IT'S OUR WEDDING, IT'S OUR DAY! You guys are right!!!!
