VENTING!!! CAUTION>>>very long~~~~

VENTING!!! CAUTION>>>very long~~~~

I went to the dress shop today to put more money on my gown...Well, I was so upset by the time I left there! I received Macy's gift cards for Christmas from my Mom and friends. When I first ordered my dress at Demetrios, they explained that I can use cash, credit or gift cards to pay the balance...Talk about lack of professionalism??? I asked the girl, if I can give some money for my dress.. Cheerfully, she says YES, how much? I said $75 worth of Macy's gift cards...She puts on this mean face and says....OH NO!! I hate those!! I can't help you and I am going to find somebody else to do it for me....SHE WALKS AWAY!!! Could you believe it...??? I drove from Valley Stream to Smithhaven mall....(about a 45 min. drive), I would have easily chose a store closer, like the Manhasset one, and this is the service I get?? I was so mad... So anyway, I stood there for 25 min. and I didn't want to walk out! My dress is already ordered and due in February..Another girl walks over to me and takes my cards, retrieves my receipt and said she will be right back! She was gone with my receipts and then when she came back, there was nothing in her hand and asked me if I needed help???? Is she kidding??? She finally realized that I was the person she was helping and now she is looking for my receipts....After 15 min, she comes back and then processes my giftcards... I asked her if she would accept Visa gift cards that you can use anywhere...she made a face and said no no no....It won't go through. I asked her if she can try? She said NOPE! I was fuming!!! Finally...I get my gift cards done and she walks away to get my original receipt on file...She comes back with someone else's.... I said WHAT ARE YOU DOING...THAT IS NOT MINE!! She asked me, well, what is your name...is it Patricia...At this point, I was so mad and shaking!!! I said my name to her AGAIN....then walked out with my corrected receipt! Girls, I am so annoyed and don't know what to think...What if something goes wrong with my dress 4 months before my Wedding???? I told my FH, he felt bad and told me to take my business elsewhere...I love the dress though...I tried on sooo many and this is the ONE!!! I could cry!

Man that stinks...sometimes you just get people on a day when nothing goes right...I went to one store when dress shopping & had a great experience with one saleslady, only to return another time to have the biggest moron of the century help me...so it all depends...sorry you had a crappy experience...i am sure your dress will be perfect!!! Don't stress for now!

I would have slapped the girl! LOL not really, but I totally understand...just remember that the service may suck but if you love the gown, that's all that matters. I am sure nothing is wrong with the gown and you can always go elsewhere to have it fitted...

Sorry you had to go through that!

I am sorry that you had such a bad experience, that truly stinks, especially because you found the dress you loved!!!! It would have felt good to storm out of there if you didnt actually love the dress!!!!! Hope your next experience is a lot better!

Macy's ROTS.
I think this is a terrible story and they should be reported for their lack of professionalism. DISGUSTING.
On the other hand.......I can't wait to see your dress b/c it is going to be magnificent.

They treated me terribly there too!! The sales lady didnt want to help me because i wanted to try on a maggie sottero dress and not a demetrios dress. Then she complained when I asked her to lace the corset back up and she started going on and on how maggie sottero dresses are horrible because of the corset back and she didnt know how or why people liked those dresses

I'm sure your dress will come in fine. I would just bring it somewhere else to get altered so you dont have to deal with those nasty people!

Theres bad service wherever you go...i went to bloomingdales to do christmas shopping and one of the gifts we bought for FMIL was a watch...well when we got home the watch was broken...i went back the day after to exchange it...I give the girl the watch, she said she needs the cc i used again, i give it to her and then she just walks away, now im thinking she went to get another one...I was standing there for such a long time...The other sales girl was like can i help you after a while, i told her i was waiting for the other girl...Seriously 30 mins later maybe even close to 45 mins i complain to the other sales girl, then i start walking down to see if i can find the other girl...well she was at another counter, i go up to her and i am like, uhmm do you have the watch bc i've been standing there waiting forever, shes like oh you want another one? I couldn't even believe her, i gave her the nastiest look and was like yeah i said i want to exchange so another watch would be great...shes like oh ok, she finishes helping the other people and takes her precious time, meanwhile there was another salesperson helping her with that one transaction for the other people, i didnt know it takes two people to do it...Ahhh sorry this was long but i was soooo annoyed, especially since i went there late after work and the mall was closing real soon and i still had to buy 3 other gifts, i seriously had to run from store to store just to buy everything before it closed

That is ridiculous, the amout of money these dresses cost service should be ideal!! I know thta must have been completely aggrevating and stressful but have u had issues there before?? If not don't hold it gaainst the store u might of caught her on a AWFUL day or just a awful salesperson. I think u should call their and speak to a supervisor and tell them what u are feelign and ask them to assure u that this wil not be an issue. Good luck!!!

Re: VENTING!!! CAUTION>>>very long~~~~

Hey ladies, Thank you so much for your concerns and advice...Next time I go back, I am definitely speaking to a manager. There was one more thing that I wanted to add...This is not the first time that I had a problem with this store. About 3 weeks ago, I called to just check the status of my dress. I wanted to get an idea of when it may be in. The woman gets on the phone, I ask, then she puts me on hold. After a few minutes, she comes back on the phone and asks me my name...I told her, then she puts me on hold....After another few minutes, she says when did you order your dress? I said in September. She said I am going to check again, but I don't see it as being ordered!!! I really didn't know what to think!! I started to talk and then she tells me really quick, I am going to have a manager call you back on Wednesday... At this point I was almost on the verge if tears..It was a Friday when I called and there was noone to help me?...We hang up...About 2 hours later, she calls me back and says she spoke with a manager... My dress was ordered and is expected in early February or early March...When I hung up the phone, I was extremely upset...
What I really think is, that they may have ordered it then? It may not be a big deal cause it may come on time...but it is the principle of the whole thing...Right??

I agree I would definitely speak to a supervisor at least if something else goes wrong (which I doubt) your complaint will at least be on record.

This is not something a bride should have to go through when its a time of stress and happiness in the same day. Buying your gown should be a pleasant yet stress free (if its possible) experience. I'm sorry you had to go through this. Like you said, speak to a manager of the department and if that doesn't get you anywhere, go even higher to that persons manager. There is always someone higher than that. There's no explanation for that type of behavior, especially when there's is A LOT of $$$ involved!
Is your dress all paid for? What I would do is go to another Macy's, closer to your home and have them deal with your fittings. Once the dress is paid for, it's yours to keep and do whatever else needs to be done. DON'T let those nasty people over in Manhasset handle your dress. Find another Macy's/person to do alterations. TRUST ME...you'll feel better about the situation once these people are away from your face and dress.
I would seriously want to B!tch slap the girl across the counter. Totally uncalled for.
Good luck!!

I would call there right now and ask to speak to the manager of the bridal salon. I am sure you are spending a nice amount on your dress. That treatment is inexcusable and unprofessional. If the manager is not there call back tomorrow. I am truly sorry you were treated that way!! I hope everything works out perfectly for you!
