Venue help... The Meadow Club?????

Hey ladies I'm looking for some info on the Meadow Club in Port Jeff. FH and I were pretty dead set on booking Lombardis on the Bay but after examining our budget and time frame we have decided to extend our venue search. With that said, a friend had reccomended the Meadow Club because from what he said when he got married he paid $30 less then what LOB had quoted FH and I. Needless to say thats a HUGE savings. So before I decide to toally give LOB the boot (which I would HATE to do because I LOVE that room!) I need some advice and opinions on the food, service, and pricing... Any help at all would be SO appreciated!! TIA ladies!!!!

Re: Venue help... The Meadow Club?????

I haven't attended a wedding at the Meadow Club in ages so I can't help there, but I attended a Bat Mitzvah there a few years ago and don't remember anything negative. However, I am biased to Lombardi's. I had my engagment party at Lombardi's on the Sound and have had many other events there in the past as well. You can try working with them on the price, but they are usually pretty strict with pricing. You def get nickle and dimed there but they throw a great party and IMO, it's worth it. If it's def not in your budget, there are other places you may want to look at in addition to the Meadow Club like Watermill etc. HTH..

What about changing your date? Instead of a Saturday night have a Friday or Sunday night. They are cheapier. Or have a day wedding they are cheapier as well. I feel like lombaris and the meadow club are two totally different feels. Why don't you try chateau la mer, cresthollow country club, the watermill? They maybe more in your price range? Hth

I just put that date on here cuz they asked for one. The price quote we got from LOB was for a Sunday off season cuz that was the cheapest... It is defiantely a different feel and I havent seen it yet either.. I was just looking for other opinions. I know that the Watermill def isnt for us.. We went to a wedding there back in Sept for one of my BM and it was a beautiful wedding.. just not what we were looking for.. The price is just so hard to get past right now lol

I have never been to a wedding at Meadow Club, but, I haven't heard great things ..I know it was popular at one time. But, again, it's only what I heard, not a personal opinion.

Try these places if you are looking in that area - Miller Place Inn, Miller Beach Surf Club, or Three Village Inn -- also what about Lombardi's on the Bay?

I would also get a menu from both set them side by side and compare what you are actually getting. It could be cheaper, but you could be getting less food, less included things like a cake or stations at CH. Just something to look into before you book somewhere.

I actually looked on the Meadow Clubs website and they have the menus listed on there.. some of their menus offer more then what LOB offered us! A couple of the packages even include floral centerpieces! Obv I need to go and talk to them and find out the specifics but it almost seems to good to be true from the research I've done so far...

I haven't been to a wedding at Meadow Club but I was there for new years eve. To be honest, I didn't love the place. It definitely wasn't anything great and I wasn't a fan of the food...but that may have been because of the holiday. My bff got a quote from there for about $70 but I'm not sure of time of year or day of week that was for. There are definitely other places in that price range!

Re: Venue help... The Meadow Club?????

Meadow Club needs alot of work.. however, they were bought by the Riviera (Massapequa) back in August. At the time they had just bought it and the guy was giving me EVERYTHING you could ever think of that you'd possibly want at a wedding (potato bar, martini station, like.. every 'upgrade') for $70 a head on a Saturday night for whatever time of year I wanted. The cocktail hour room was a disaster though. Holes in the awning, bricks were all uneven.. but they said that was going to be the first thing they fixed and from what it looks like from the street they may have already replaced the awning. They redid the parking lot and replaced the roof as well (all things that were just being done when we had gone in there)

I'm obviously partial to LOB because I'm booked there haha but check out Venetian Yacht Club if you're looking still.. I really liked it there and they had a nice menu!

Good luck :)

Re: Venue help... The Meadow Club?????

I would definitely suggest checking out Smithtown Landing. They run some great specials from time to time and from what I saw, you can actually get a Saturday night wedding really inexpensively and you're still getting the full menu. We seriously considered booking with them but fell in love with our RH. The ballroom at Smithtown Landing is gorgeous IMO and Rich the BM is a pleasure to work with. I think they post their specials and pricing on their website. HTH and good luck on your search

Re: Venue help... The Meadow Club?????

You sound like us 3 years ago when we got engaged. We were in love with Villa Lombardi's acutally, but were looking at different venues because of the price, The Meadow Club being one of them. Before we got to even looking there, DH and I were in love with Villa, and I felt that we would regret it if we didnt just find some way to make it work. We did the 'unthinkable' especially in 2008, we booked a Thursday night. We figured it was Memorial Day weekend, kick off to the summer and hoped people would either take off Friday, or just go to work for the one day and be off for the weekend to recover. I'm not going to lie, I wore a smile and had the infamous 'Whoever wants to be there will be there' attitude, but as it got closer I did get nervous. I even was embarrassed at times to tell people the day of the week. I had the lowest expectations so that I would not be disappointed. I expected and empty church, rain, no one to dance, people to leave early. I expected to pay for people that wouldn't be there because there was no way I thought we would meet our minumum. Everything was the exact opposite. Surprised with beautiful weather, a filled church, a packed dancefloor all night, and people stayed until the end! We also not only met 125, we surpassed it with 140! Looking back, it really was the best thing we could have done. It truly was a dream and we were able to achieve everything we could have ever wanted, it was truly perfect. Best of luck to you, and remember those who love and support you will be there no matter what day of the week time etc.

*Edited bc I have spelling ocd and spelled achieve wrong lol
