Venue Issues-this got long.

Venue Issues-this got long.

I am so angry/sad right now.
I love my venue BUT the past two days have started to take their toll. Before we booked with them a lot of 'promises' were made and i definately should have had them on the contract BUT it didnt seem necasary.
We were told we wouldnt have to worry about sharing the bathroom b/c of the location of our room and the day of the week and the time of year.
We were told that our guests could linger a while in our CH room before the reception but after the scheduled CH b/c that's the room we loved and why we booked the location.

However, it turns out that our CH room is being used for a reception. Which is fine. And the other bride seems to be a lovely one and is a fellow LIWeddings bride and i'm very excited for her and everything. This is in no way a reflection on how i feel about her or her wedding.

SOOO... we basically get rushed out of the CH so they can set up for her reception which starts 30 minutes later. They will be moving tables in while our guests are switching rooms, her musicians will be setting up during our CH. AND since the rooms are right next to eachother we're sharing a bathroom.

I called yesterday and was told a whole bunch of stuff that totally calmed me down. Then my BM called today and made me feel like cr*p. He basically negated everything that was said yesterday, he used a tone of voice that made me feel like i was being reprimanded by my father, he was blunt, and seemed to get angry with me, and he seemed to be in a rush to get off the phone. I was hysterical by the time i got off the phone with him. He said he's never in 20 years ever told anyone that they wouldnt share a bathroom. He said that myself, my fiance, and my mother were all mistaken b/c he knows his sales pitch and he knows he has NEVER said that. He basically called me a liar.

So the three of us had the same halucination??

Everyone I talk to gives me a differant maximum number for my room. I don't know what i'm doing, they all know that, and are treating me like an idiot.

I'm so close to just calling the whole thing off right now and going to town hall and having a BBQ. Seriously, I've never felt so stupid. I totally feel like i got played and i don't know what to do about it.

Do you think sharing a bathroom with another wedding is a problem that I should be concerned about? Should I just get over the CH/Reception room issue b/c they've been doing this for decades and know what they are doing and most likely will not interfere with my wedding or disturb my guests while setting up for hers?

I'm just sick of 'calm down it will be fine' i want to know HOW and WHY it'll be fine. I want someone to tell me that sharing a bathroom is fine and mean it, i want to hear what other people think about the tables and dj and everything.
Help?

I went to a wedding at Fox Hollow and I believe there were 2 weddings the day of and honestly I didnt even notice...the bathroom is really large and you dont wait for a stall or anything...sorry...I would be pissed too...but as a guest in the past..I didnt notice another wedding

Did you already put down a deposit? If it's not that much I would find a different hall. There is no reason for someone to treat you like you made a mistake when it was them who made one. There are tons of places to have a wedding where the people will treat you nicely and will appreciate your business

I'd definatley be pissed., can you ask for a different BM? Have you shelled out alot of money yet for payments..I would just eat the money and go somewhere else. You dont want to feel all of the tension btw you and your BM on the day of your wedding...or even worry about it at all.

I entirely agree with you on the Cocktial hour thing ALTHOUGH like you said yourself, they have been doing this for years and your reception hall comes highly reccomended (not just saying that because I'm booked there too - almost everyone I talk to raves about the place) I seriously doubt that they would start rolling in tables before the majority of your guests left the room. That would be totally unacceptable and not something that I could even picture them trying.

Will they be a little more persistent about getting your guests into your reception room? yes. But I don't think they will turn it into an menagarie.

As far as sharing a bathroom with guests from another party, it's something that my guests are probably going to have to do as well and it's not something that I'm too concerned about. It's just a bathroom, not like we're sharing the reception room or the bridal suite.

I think this might have ended up sounding more harsh than I wanted it to but I just want you to know that I'm basically in your boat. I'm booked for the WGP the day after you. I'm assuming you're booked for the briar fox?

What about having your cocktail hour in the lantern gallery and petite garden? If it's not being used then you won't have to worry about your guests being rushed out of the room.

HTH

edited to ask: Who is your BM? I DEFINITELY do not agree with the tone he took with you.

i already put down the deposit and made at least one other payment.

I think from now on I may just call and talk to another BM. I'm going to call my wedding planner and see if they can help me out with dealing with them.
I don't know how to go about switching BM's...

I LOVE my venue. I really don't know what to do. I can't just give up the thousands of dollars we've already put down. And i wouldnt know where to begin looking for another venue. We saw so many and this was the best fit for us.

You don't sound harsh at all! this is exactly what i was looking to hear to be honest. someone confident in what they were telling me and not just an 'it'll be okay sweety' kind of way.

We're using the Briar Fox. The reason we booked the venue at all is for the WGP. The other bride is using the Lantern Gallery.

Thank you so much for your reply. It's good to hear that someone else in a similar boat isnt concerned.

My BM is Ron. (he was so awsome when we booked... he's the one who talked us into switching dates to save money and helped us a lot along the way. i don't know if he's in a bad mood today or what but i'm super pissed)

Changing the date isnt an option, we've already ordered stationary with the date as well as having guests make travel arangments

we not only put down a deposit we've started making payments as well.
One of the reasons we liked them so much is because they were super nice and made me feel like my wedding was special to them... unlike a lot of the other venues we met with.

This is what i wanted to hear. I feel a bit better now.

Re: Venue Issues-this got long.

listen from now on, when you call for anything try dealing with Dave Gerin. He honestly has been nothing but fabulous from day one when we booked. I have FULL confidence in that man.

I'm glad I could help. If you ever need to vent or need a fellow Fox Hollow bride to talk to about something don't hesitate to FM me!

don't worry about it, a wedding can AND WILL get the best of anyone!

Just remember regardless of the incidentals when you and your guests look back at the BIG picture all they are going to remember is having a WONDERFUL time, at a BEAUTIFUL place, with EXCELLENT food and of course the greatest hosts of all time. . . you and your FH!

The place IS gorgeous isnt it?? You're right. Excellent food, nice atmosphere, and hopefully great music(we havent booked yet) plus an open bar means a great time for everyone.

Exactly! No offense to any of the girls booked in other halls but I honestly haven't seen a place as beautiful (though I'm sure every girl feels that way about their hall), that and their reputation is why we booked!

well they should've told you that they will be setting up during your CH, but things like this are done all the time so as long as they're professional about it then it shouldn't be a problem

the bathroom thing really is not a big deal...my venue is like this and MANY others

This is why we ultimately decided on a place with one wedding at a time.... tho I'm sure everything will run smoothely, these places should have the transitions down to a science
