Hello brides, I am planning a July 2014 wedding. My fiance and I fell in love with the second venue we looked at, which quoted us $130/head (tax/gratuity included***) for the Saturday evening in July. Being the second place that we looked at, we are not sure if this is a deal, a rip off, or just about on target as far as price range goes. The only other place we looked quoted us $200/head, so we have begun thinking $135 is pretty good, but the total of $16,000 just for the location, dinner, and cake is making us have second thoughts.
Just wondering if anyone could share some of their quotes for that time of year, or at least let me know if this price is anything like what you have been hearing. Thank you!

Re: Venue Price help
Is that with tax and service charge included or is that $135++?

Re: Venue Price help
July is busy season so 135 sounds pretty standard for a Saturday night.

Re: Venue Price help
Fh and I booked off season for 2013 but we are WELL under 100p/p including tax and gratuity. If the prices you got are scaring you then mabye consider going off season. The packages are so much better when you go off season or even a Friday or Sunday night.. HTH!!

Re: Venue Price help
That sounds about right since it's prime wedding season. We're starting to plan for October 2014 and have been getting very similar quotes for a Saturday night.

Re: Venue Price help
It's definitely an average price, but I think it depends on where it is and what you're getting. I can't tell you $130 is a good deal or not unless i knew what was included and what the venue was like.

Re: Venue Price help
I agree with the ladies above, def. a average price for prime time wedding season and on a Saturday night, and as some girls said before you may want to look at off season...

Re: Venue Price help
Thanks ladies! Having the wedding off season is somewhat out of the question for several reasons- 1-most of the guests (besides my immediate family) will be traveling out of town for the event, so I would have a hard time asking people to take off more than one day of work. 2-there are so many teachers/students/school employees involved in the wedding (including myself and FI) that it would be silly to have it anytime other than our 2 month break.
But thanks again for your input! We are very close to booking!!

Re: Venue Price help
It REALLY Depends on the venue. Our wedding was a Sunday night in June at it was $130 pp before the tax and gratuity. it depends on how in demand the place is, the location, the time of year and date of course, whether it's one wedding at a time, and what youre getting for the money. An amount alone really doesn't tell if you're getting a deal or not

Sounds right on the money to me

Agree with everything above. Price sounds good but it does depend on what you are getting for money. One wedding a day at the venue or multiple weddings at one time? Top shelf? Buffet or sit down, what is the minimum you have to guarantee? Price for vendor meals?Afternoon or evening?
Don't be afraid to bargain with them for the same date. Ask if they can sharpen their pencils and come down or perhaps throw in some extras.
Always ask them to do better. Let them know you are close to booking them or somewhere else close to them in style and price. They know their business and the market.

Re: Venue Price help
We were looking at July 2014 weddings and that's definitely a good price. That's about what we paid for a July 2014 Friday night wedding. Most of the places we looked at we're over 150 pp (including taxes and fees). How many places have you checked out?
