Venue question

Hey ladies, recently engaged and reading all these posts are really helpful! Looking for a date in 2016 and through all my research I fell in love with The Vineyards in Aquebogue and have been contacting them about pricing for different days and times of year. We set up a tour but when I told them I was looking for 2016 they said the prices were going to be about 20-30 dollars more pp then what I was quoted for 2015. Is this normal? Silly me was hoping booking early would save me money.

We went to east wind yesterday and when I asked about 2016 they said to add 5.00. Usually, it is my understanding the venue usually honors your price from the year you book it. I think the price increase is absolutely outrageous they gave you and unacceptable. I would tell them its a shame you will not be getting married there bc of their astronomical price increases.

Wow $20-30pp extra is a crazy increase! I booked my venue this past May for May 2016 and all of the venues I looked at only had up to 2015 prices out, not 2016, and they said they would honor those prices for me. I ended up paying 2015 prices, but I am not sure what the price increase would be if I waited.

An extra $5pp seems reasonable, but not $20-30. Have you tried Giorgio's since they are also out there and have almost the same feel to it.

EDIT: To give you an idea though, I booked my photographer last month and she said if we waited until about October, the prices for each package for 2016 would have gone up by $500. I think the same was true for Burton's florist (not sure of the price increase though for this one).

While $20 to $30 more per person sounds like a lot, maybe the price quotes for 2015 that they were giving you were already discounted as they are just trying to fill whatever remaining dates they have for that year?

that's soo weird. I went to east wind in July & I told them my wedding was May 2016. They didn't tell me it would be extra. Every venue I went to said the benefit of booking early is to get this years prices. If you guys are interested in east wind you should definitely fight the $5 extra pp.

I think it's strange that you are booking so far in advance that they wouldn't honor the current price. My friend got married at The Vineyards and it was a really nice wedding.

This is definitely odd. I booked in March for August 2016 and was given mostly 2015 prices. A few said it would be $5 more but $20-$30 more is insane unless they're doing some kind of major renovation between now and then. Definitely call them out on it, and let them know that you're ready to walk away because you feel taken advantage of. They should give you current prices then.

I just booked about a month ago and unfortunately many places kept telling me how they were giving me 2016 prices but it was never that high of an increase. If you absolutely love this venue I would definitely negotiate with them and tell them your booking so far in advance so that you could avoid this exact problem since most places I went to seemed to try and work with you. Good Luck!

I am getting married in 2016 as well and all the venues/vendors I looked at gave me 2014 or 2015 pricing. $20-$30 more per person really sounds like a lot.

Thanks ladies. Yea definitely think it's a little crazy for it to be that much more booking so far in advance. I'm going to see them Wednesday and will hopefully be able to negotiate something!

Good luck! FH's sister worked there as part of catering staff a year or two ago. Be firm with what you want, negotiating is your best friend to save money. I would not accept the 20-30 extra. There are tons of wineries out there so maybe you can say you're going to keep looking at the competition.
