Venue Shopping

Hey everyone!

I am very very newly engaged (just a few days), where even saying that I'm engaged is still a shock, lol! Regardless, I have been doing my homework for a while. Now that it's official, I was wondering if anyone had any information regarding venue pricing. I plan on visiting places next week, but I'd love to get some ball park ideas so that we can set a budget and get a general idea of what we can afford and what may be out of the question. We are looking for a 2014 Saturday night, anywhere from September 2014 to January 2015, approximately 200 guests, and I would say the top five places I likes from first glance are:

Larkfield
Venetian Yacht Club
North Ritz Club
Watermill
Woodbury Country Club

If anyone had any quotes that they wouldn't mind sharing I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you all so much in advance, and I look forward to getting very acquainted with this forum! :)

first of all, congrats on getting engaged and WELCOME!

i only have quotes for Larkfield ... they for september/october 2014 they quoted me at $130-140pp for a Saturday evening with a minimum of about 135 people ...

Congrats and Welcome.... look into Bridgeview Yacht Club!! Not 100% sure of Sat night quotes, but I think they are really reasonable in price and would fit your number!

Out of your list, I believe the north ritz and larkfield will probably be the most expensive- larkfield is brand new so they jacked up their prices a bit.. Are you looking for one wedding at a time, or are you OK with multiple weddings? North ritz is one wedding I believe, but larkfield, watermill, and woodbury do 2 weddings at once I think (not sure about the venetian). Depending on the layout of the rooms, that shouldn't be a problem. I heard larkfield has an awesome set-up where you would never even know there was another wedding going on.

Check them all out and price it out! It's good to go to alot of places and be able to compare the price per plate with the menu options offered. The NHP Inn and the Milleridge Cottage had almost the exact same menu options, but the NHP inn wanted $100 more per plate! So, definitely explore them all..

Also, look into holiday weekends, like labor day and columbus day. That way, you could pay sunday pricing for basically a saturday night since you're off on that Monday :)

Just remember most quotes you get aren't including tax and 15-20% gratuity... which can add quite a bit more $!

Congrats!! I don't have any quotes for those venues but I do have one piece of advice. Keep an open mind when 'window shopping' online. The venue that I LOVED online didn't do anything for me in person and the venue that I least liked online I ended up booking!

I may be a bit biased, but I love the Watermill! I will FM you my quote, but I only have a quote for a Saturday night in April.

Larkfield is more expensive in SEP/Oct. I think the quote was $130++. Since you have minimum 200 you would be in the bigger room. I didn't like how close the bridal suites were .. it didn't seem 'right' when you're spending all that money!

Nov/Dec the price will go down.

Watermill is supposed to be super affordable!

Check out Bridgeview yacht club. It's similar to a few of the places you posted and reasonably priced. The ballroom holds up to 400 people and they do a fantastic job.

I'm bias to Woodbury CC because I'm booked there lol..I did love the Watermill, only reason I didn't book with them was because it was too far for my family members & they didn't have our date available..and North Ritz is nice, I've been to a few parties there..and that was my reason why I didn't do it there..we wanted somewhere different..Good luck on venue shopping!! Its one of the fun things to do!!

Congrats! Have fun with planning now...
Venetian has a drop-dead gorgeous view. About $135 if I remember right. If your into the water-front view, Marina Del Rey under the Throgs neck Bridge has an even more incredible view. About $140, 145? (dam, I can't remember if that was before or after tax?!) They were pretty strict on their pricing though.

Larkfield is my favorite obviously, but for good reason. I guess the Bridal Suites are on the same floor, but you'll probably come in before or after them anyways. And Larkfield is structured so your guests shouldn't have much interaction with the other party as well.

Watermill was much cheaper since they can host more weddings. (about $120 with our minimum numbers)
