Re: venue stress!
Hi - I think you're going to have your pick of locations, because the winter is typically low season (depending on the month you pick). If you're flexible with your date, then definitely negotiate negotiate negotiate!!
They always ask....'what's your budget?' or 'is this price per
person what you've budgeted for?'
We always said...'it's a higher than what we were expecting' and never gave a number until we got all of the quotes back and started to negotiate.
I don't have any quotes for the winter, but just for an idea, my cousin got married at the end of Feb in 2012 on a Saturday night, and she paid $79 per person at the Inn @ Three Village (Lessings) in Stony Brook.
I love my venue, the North Ritz Club, but I'm not a fan of their indoor ceremony space. Hopefully the weather holds up for my wedding, because I'm counting on it being outside! If you're having the ceremony somewhere else, I definitely recommend you looking at it! It's a one-event venue, which may be a deal breaker, and it seems like you can afford to be choosy!
Good luck!

I think the easiest way to start is figure out what your max budget is per plate. Then you can narrow down to what venues you can afford and from there see which of those you like and don't like. I can suggest checking out Rivieria at Massapequa for really reasonable pricing.

I absolutely agree!.. Riviera is not your average wedding hall, the look is completely dofferent, and it is beautiful! They are very pleasant to work with and they are negotiable! Dont hesitate to tell places you look at that the price is too high, because they will work with you.

First we looked at places we'd heard of through other people, on here, etc. Then went on their websites and saw if we liked anything about their look, then we e-mailed all of them for quotes and narrowed them down to ones in/close to our budget. I'll FM you all the quotes I have (there's a ton lol) but keep in mind most are for Sept/October 2016 because that's what I was looking for at the time.

I am getting married at the Riviera this September and was offered 70pp. I would highly recommend them as the venue is beautiful. They will work with you so just talk to them about pricing. They offered to throw in the chocolate fountain and champagne cart for us as well. Best of luck

every place i inquire with for pricing wants me to come in before they give me a number, never tried emailing...do many of them give you pricing through email?

Some gave me pricing and some didn't. Definitely try though so you at least have an idea. I didn't like going in blind without a quote, even though I had quotes from other girls on here.

Some i got over email but most of them over the phone.
I just tell them I rather get a rough idea to see if your in my price range before i do the drive out there, and all of them did. but they said it varies depending on menu and add ons

venue stress!
When I started venue shopping I wasn't sure where to begin either. I knew my price point but I wasn't really set on a particular view. Once I realized I wanted something with an ocean view that helped me narrow my choices. It helped me alot and I only visited 6 venues in 2 weekends. I think you should sit down and really consider what the max amount per person you can budget for. Then you can use that to do a search for venues who can do that for you. If it's a winter wedding most venues are wiling to negotiate. Also, pictures are usually very important. For a winter wedding consider that there might be snow. Use that as well for picking a venue with an outdoor area. With the snow and icicles your pictures will be amazing. Very winter wonderland. Hope this helps darling.Welcome New Vendors
