Venue Suggestions- Expat who lives in Australia

Hey everyone! I just got engaged and was wondering if I could pick your brains! I’m originally from Long Island, but currently live in Brisbane, Australia with my fiancee (He’s an Aussie. We met backpacking in Asia in 2012).

We’ll be getting married in New York next year. I’ll be visiting my family next month and plan on looking at venues then. I'm only going to be home for 2 weeks so I basically have 1 shot to find a venue... ah! I’m just having a difficult time trying to find a venue and was wondering if anyone had suggestions.

Our wedding will be 50-70 people max, most likely closer to 50 as a lot of Australians won’t be able to make it. We would like a venue that’s casual but still elegant. Ideally it would be by the water or have a great garden for the ceremony. We would be open to Long Island, NYC, Westchester, North Jersey along the river. We’re looking to get married sometime between May-September 2015.

Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction?

Try The View in Oakdale, really beautiful restaurant right on the water. Only catch is they only allow for Saturday afternoon weddings. But definitely worth taking a look at if you're open to day/time of the week.
