Venues for HUGE weddings?

Venues for HUGE weddings?

Hi,

We have tentatively booked the Crescent (Max 300) for Oct 2005. However, my parents don't think we can get away with less than 400 people.

Do you know any venues that can accomodate a party of 400-450, AND has not more than one wedding at a time? FH refuses to use a venue that holds more than one event at a time. He is even requesting a venue on the water...

Is there such a place on the island? 400-450 people, 1 event at a time, on the H2O???

Thanks!!!

The Wyndam Wind Watch Hotel--That's where I got married--had a big wedding. Ballroom holds 650--and they only do one wedding at a time.

ETA: Not on the water, though.

Check out this site - - >Wedding Sites and Services

You'll find info on capacity, # of events held at one time, pics, etc....

I think it might be tough or you might be very limited in options if you must have all 3 criterias

Milleridge Cottage says they hold up to 550, but I think that includes seating people in the atrium. The room itself holds up to 350. If you're inviting 400, you'd probably have less than that coming anyway. Check it out. It isn't on the water though...someone's probably going to have to give in about something, likely the water if that is the number of guests you're talking about.

Thanks for all your responses...
Of all the suggestions, the only place I had seen prior was Huntington TH, but it seemed that they had a lot of events going on at once.

Has anyone been to a wedding at either BridgeView or Floral terrace? How was the environment and the food?

Also, I'm curious about Oheka. I heard the prices are quite steep though.
Whats the $$ pp, on an October sunday?

Thanks!!!

The East Wind can hold up to 1200 in the new ballroom, but it is not on the water.

Chateau La Mer can hold up to 450 in the atrium (I was told), and if it's a Friday wedding there is only one at a time... plus its beautiful! It's also on the water, with floor to ceiling windows...

Im not sure, but check out the atlantica and Gurney's inn. What about Giorgio's? Lands end? They are all on the water, but I dont know how many people they seat.

Woodbury Jewish Center - but it's very $$$$. Absolutely gorgeous, one wedding but not on the water.

Thanks for more replies!!!

I looked at Chateau La Mer, but I was told that they can take a max of about 325. It was a gorgeous view though, mom loved it!

Atlantica, Giorgio's, Lands end seem too far, since the ceremony would be in Garden City (nassau)...

Pls keep the suggestions coming, I'm taking serious notes

I got married at Stuart Thomas Manor in Famingdale. Their ballroom can hold like 500 people, maybe even more. It is only one wedding at a time, but it is not near water. I personally loved the place and had my dream wedding. FM me if you want any more info!!

Just some advice...Even if a hall says it can accomodate xxxamount of guests make sure you check it out when it's set up for a large amount. I learned the hard way! One hall told me they can hold my large wedding but my list grew so big and the room would be soooo tight. I still haven't received my $$ back yet.

I have been to a wedding at Bridgeview- it was very nice, but I doubt they could comfortably seat 400 with dancing.

that makes me think...i know some halls give high maximums but sometimes those big numbers can only be accomodated for buffets, not sut down dinners. so i agree, ask questions.

I know the Milleridge accommodates huge parties.... its one wedding at a time, but not on the water.

Also, I went to a wedding at Villa Lombardis that had over 400 people and it was the only one on a Saturday night.

My parents went to a wedding with 700 (!!!!!) people at the ballroom at the Garden City Hotel.

You could also try the Huntinton Hilton or Marriott. Hotels have big ballrooms because of all the conventions they hold.
