Venues in Queens
My fiance and I are beginning our search for a reception hall for our wedding. We've seen the Water's Edge already. We are planning to visit Douglaston Manor and Terrace on the Park. Can anyone recommend any other nice venues in Queens? We also plan to look at places in Nassau but want to bang out Queens first. Thanks!!

I've heard Douglaston Manor is very nice. I don't know much about Terrace on the Park and FH and I looked at Water's Edge but decided against it. Floral Terrace and the Inn at New Hyde Park are on Jericho Turnpike and right over the Queens border (and beautiful!)

Russo's on the Bay! If my cousin & FSIL hadn't got married there we would have considered it. Best food & service!

I can see Russo's from my bathroom window. We're right across the canal from it. We'd consider it if we couldn't walk to it from our hosue.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will look into all of them. FH has declined Russo's. We live very close to Russo's as well. I guess for him it doesn't feel special because we drive by it all the time. Larlyn can you tell me why you passed on the Water's Edge...just curious.

Whats your vision and budget? Are you seeking a catering hall or something different?

The view was gorgeous, but we didn't like the fact that the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were all in the same room and the guests would have to wait in the hallway while they switched from cocktails to reception. If your ceremony is in church and you don't mind the guests in the hallway, the view is amazing and they had the best chairs! The bathrooms and bridal suite were very small. It was originally my first choice until I saw it!

This is what turned us off about Water's Edge too. I think they would only let you use the downstairs space for cocktail hour if you had a Friday wedding that started really early before their dinner rush. I didnt like the idea of my guest being shuffled around in a hallway waiting for the room to be turned over. The bridal suite and bathroom situation were also weak. The views can't be beat though!
