very confused...help

ok so my fh and i arent 'officially' engaged.. we're getting engaged in june when we're in disney. thats been the plan for a couple of months now. but we wanna get married april 2007.. so we're starting to look at halls and do all of that good stuff.. besides the hall.. what should i be doing right now? i have no idea.. im so confused. rawr

Well.... You can decide whether you want to get married at the Hall, or Church or whichever the appropriate place would be....

I would also think about Photographers... B/c if you are getting married on the weekend, the 'Popular' Photographers/Videographers get booked rather quickly...

Congrats & welcome!

I agree, first focus on your reception venue & the ceremony site (church, etc.)

Then photographer, band/dj

I would probably wait to look into more vendors until I had a date set.

Start the fun stuff - start looking at dresses!

We booked the vendors that would cost the most to the least in this order:

Temple/Hall
Band
Photography/Video
Florist

I always thought the first step was to decide the overall feel you want your wedding to have. Deciding on colors and thinking about your BP might be a good place to start, too. Good Luck!

- Decide on a budget you both agree on (that should help you determine how many guests, where, etc)

- Talk with FH about what type of ceremony you want

- Once you have an 'estimate' you can start looking at halls.

- Start looking for a dress, if you don't know what style, it a great opportunity to try on as many as you can since you have time to check things out.

- Start looking at photographer and their work.

You can't really talk to any of them yet until you have a date (except dress).

My engagement progression was kind of out of the ordinary, too.

1 - we ordered the ring
2 - my FH asked my dad for his blessing
3 - we booked the engagement party

(1,2 and 3 were all in the same night. lol)

4 - picked up the ring
5 - propsal
6 - booked the hall, but I always knew where I wanted it, so I booked it the day after he proposed.

I say... if you KNOW you're getting engaged, and it's just a matter of time, book the things you KNOW you want so you don't lose them.

The first thing you should always do is panic. Get it out of the way. It's therapeutic. Then you should talk to your partner about what kind of event you want to have. Large and expensive. More intimate and less expensive. Then you can make a list of all the things that have to be arranged to make your dream come true. If you aren't looking to do the deed until the summer of 2007 then you have the time to really pick what you want.

i'd figure out the style i want (for my wedding....church then hall, all hall, etc...) and visit halls and such to figure out what you like and what fits your style....then figure out what type of dress and start dreaming....at one point i threatened to make a wedding book like monica and rachel did on friends....but then i saw the cost of wedding magazines and decided i did not want to torture my wallet nearly as much as i wanted to torture my FH. hee.

Im planning an April/May 2007 wedding also. I got engaged 2 months ago, but I still haven't planned anything.

I'd make sure you book your hall and church/temple/ceremony site. These seem to be booking up fast, a lot of dates were already taken at places I liked.

I'd also look into booking photo/video and DJ as those seem to go quickly too.

I think you can probably wait for flowers and limo, there are a lot more options for this.

i agree about the photographer bit. they book up fast!! also just start looking at some dresses b/c some take up to 8-9 months just to order and come in. besides that i think you have time for other vendors.
