The last few weeks, I've been feeling very down/depressed. On top of complications with my pregnancy, I've had multiple issues at work (nothing out of the norm, I'm just feeling taken advantage of, under-appreciated and just sick of the b.s. and idiot clients). I have no motivation there to do well or even to do my job because I feel like all I get is $hit on. I'm bigtime stressing about our financial situation, considering the baby ISN'T here and we are practically drowning as-is. I'm still working two jobs and it never seems enough. Someone always has their hand out for one thing or another.
My shower has me stressed because hubby made a big stink about inviting his family and everyone thus far from his side has said no. I guess it was too much to expect his mother to rise to the occasion and show some support (not for me, but for the baby) but alas, no. I guess I shouldn't complain but it really does bother me, that she can't even make the effort for something so important. Which dominoes to the actual birth - how am I supposed to be cordial to this woman?!?
My weight is out of control. I've always had a problem with it, but it's beyond description and all I did was cry last night while going through pictures of myself before I was married. I was no Vogue model then, but what have I turned into?!?
I really believe I'm in a depression. I'm dwelling on all the negative things from the past and re-living all the horrible moments from yesteryear. Is there such a thing as pre post-pardom? Is it just hormones that are affecting me? All I want to do is sleep/cry Not looking for a pity party, just some honest answers about what could be going on with me. Chemical imbalance???

I don't have an answer for you, but speak to your doctor about the hormones and depression. Get better now, before the baby comes and reeks havoc on your already hectic life. I'm sure the baby will be the light in your eyes but babies are a lot of work, that's why I say that. It's normal to evaluate things as a new door is opening up, continue to speak with DH and speak to your doctor. Let him put your mind at ease. Lot's of hugs for you

Re: Very down/depressed...
You're going through a very stressful time in your life -- it's only natural to feel depressed. Try not to let life get the best of you. Once you look into your baby's eyes, it will put everything else into perspective, but in the meantime, take care of yourself. Your hormones are probably taking over. Why has everyone on your husband's side of the family said no to the shower? Very strange! Try to focus on the great things that are happening in your life and keep yourself busy with things you love. If your job continues to get you down, find something new. Sometimes turning over a new leaf is all you need for a fresh new perspective on life. And please, if nothing else, try to smile!

One more thing: if life continues to take a downward spiral for you, please seek help. There is nothing wrong with seeing a psychologist.

Re: Very down/depressed...
Im so sorry hun...First of all, you have to keep talking about it.,..it will help, sometimes it helps just to be miserable and be ok and having people ok with you being down...then you get over it.,..its a phase...You will be so happy about your baby you will forget any of this was ever felt, and once your a mama of your own , the concerns over MIL will be over because you will be too busy with your own to care what the hell she thinks/does...We love ya..hang in there..be lazy, and take care of yourself...and e-mail me in you need to talk, I know you have the address!
I bet the hormones are definitely playing a role... as for your shower...I think you will have a better time without your MIL being there...and then that also could stress you out in the weeks before...let DH be pissed...while you enjoy the moment....
a lot of time exercise helps in fighting depression....I know that you are far along in your PG...but can you do some brisk walking? it also helps to clear your head...and lets you ***** about everyone in your head - so they can't hear
then my secret weapon for depression...is the dog...if you feel down...try petting them...letting them kiss you...
does your insurance cover therapy? if so a third party can make a huge difference...

You are pregnant. Your hormones are up and down. You will get through this. When my best friend was pregnant, she was quite moody and at times depressed. Hang in there. You are having a baby!!! How exciting!!!

Ohh Momma I am sorry you are feeling so blue, Like Donna said keep talking about it whether it is with us or hubby or a relative (no inlaws) sometimes when you put words to a feeling or a thought it begins to lose it's power. You are going through so many changes in life I am sure this is nothing out of the ordinary but do talk to your Dr. and let him on the concerns you are having........You are going to have such a precious gift @ the end of all this have faith in that a beautiful gift made out of a beautiful marriage.......Love Ya

I agree with the girls...talk, talk and talk. You have to think...am i normally depressed? IF not then i would say it could definately be hormonal! But we are here to talk to, and i can't wait to meet you
Ps- try keeping yourself busy with other things, like getting ready for this baby. The more you dwell on the negative the more depressed and helpless you get. Take back some control in your life and you will start to feel better!

Re: Very down/depressed...
Aw sweetie, I just hopped on here for a little while tonight and saw your post .. I wish I could give you one of these in person right now!! (well, soon enough!!)
I really cannot add anything better than the advice the ladies already gave you on here .. but the best thing you are doing is talking (writing)!! So please dont shut down .. just talk and talk and talk some more to us, to your doc, to ANYONE who you think can just lend an objective ear and help give you strength & support. I have gone through period of depression in my life, so I've been in your shoes, to a degree. I know how difficult it can be when those feeling take a hold of you and everything (and I do mean everything) just doesn't feel right any longer. Helpless is a horrible feeling, but try to realize that this is a 'temporary' .. you will pinpoint what it is (be it medical, hormonal, or emotional) and be on your way back to 'norm!'
Luckily there is a tremendous about of help out there, and once you can determine what it is that is causing you so much saddness you will being to feel better . Start with your doctor first and go from there. You have much to look forward to -- a new baby! But I know you already know that I promise you that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, you WILL feel better and get through this . You are stronger than you think!
FM/Email whatever you need, I'm here for you

I am sorry that you are feeling so down.
F your MIL. She is nothing but trouble and you will probably enjoy your shower so much more without her negative presence. At least you were the bigger person in agreeing to invite her anyway. I would not have been able to go that far.
I am sure you are hormonal. Those hormones are a nightmare. I have a friend who is pregnant with her second child and she had no problem with hormones her first go around, but now she is crazy hormonal - AND she has a son who has hit his terrible twos. The moral of the story is it could be worse
What do you do? Maybe if you let us all know we can keep our ears open for you.
I hope that you feel better today

Re: Very down/depressed...
I didn't see this thread until now. I agree with the other ladies and send..........
I would definetly say you are depressed, I was the same way when I was pregnant, But I think that you should talk to your doctor about it, something I didn't do, but when I look back now I'm thinking why didn't I? All I can say that in my case it did pass. Your body is going through a lot of changes, I gained a humongous amount of weight in my pregnancy, but rest assured I lost it all. Your hormones are reaking havoc on your mind. Just try to take it easy.

Re: Very down/depressed...
Thank you guys so much for the support!
Today is my four year anniversary and we have a doctor's appointment tonight. I'm going to ask my doctor if there is anything I can do because honestly I still feel the same way this morning (weepy, low energy). I went to the gym last night with MichelleW and I did feel better while I was there, so maybe there is something to be said for the exercise thing? I haven't been sleeping well lately either, so I'm sure that factors in too.
I can't wait for spring!!

Glad to hear going to the gym helped a bit. I guess it's all those endorphins. No advice just some hugs
