VERY EMBARRASSED

last night i went to a work dinner with about 200 people. Well I got so drunk that i dont remember anything and apparently this morning people told me that the president of the company was not happy with me last night and was trying to get me out of there.

I seriously feel like quitting right now. It is terrible..

Ok, damage control...drop the Pres an email apologizing.....

I'm sure as the Pres. of a company it's not the first time it's happened! And I think you would have remembered doing something really embarrassing? Don't worry about it. Was everyone else drinking too?

Re: VERY EMBARRASSED

uh oh
what did you do??
search your memory
it had to be pretty bad

if it was an excuseable thing you did then i would email or call the pres.... otherwise if you were completly out of line I would just lay low till it blows over

EEEK!!
First, are you sure that your coworkers aren't messing with you to psych you out as a joke for getting so drunk?
If they're serious, I agree with Misty, apologize to your boss immediately. The sooner you do it, th better. If he is thinking you don't belong there, this will hopefully show him that you are able to accept responsibility for your mistakes.
Good luck.

Did anyone tell you if you did something specifically? Do you have a good relationship with your supervisor? Maybe ask him/her the best way to do damage control. Don't quit these things happen.

Aww, suzanne, I am sure it wasn't anything horrible. You were probably just laughing and being silly, I am sure it wasn't anything really bad, someone would have told you. Cheer up it will pass in a day or so I am sure.

Suzanne
dont quit and dont say anything
they might be exaggerating!! IF your boss says something to you then apologize and tell him it will not happen again

Re: VERY EMBARRASSED

I would try to find out exactly what I had done before approaching the pres

I agree. Find out exactly what you did. Now I'm wondering if your co-workers could be messing with you?

Re: VERY EMBARRASSED

Apparently I was dancing and hugging people and requesting songs from the dj.. now while that might not sound that bad i guess being hammered it might have looked really bad..

I cant believe it. People are telling me not to say anything unless they bring it up.. urgg..
to top it off i have to sit in a meeting today for 7 hours with alot of the people from last night. I feel like an idiot..

Re: VERY EMBARRASSED

That is not a big deal. You weren't wearing a lamp shade or dancing on tables! Drop a line to the Pres and apologize.

What type of company do you work for?

So sorry
Could you say something to him such as 'I think I had too much last night'. Maybe he will laugh it off and it wasnt a big deal.

Re: VERY EMBARRASSED

It happens to everybody!!! If something is said just say that's the last time I skip lunch/dinner when we go out. It was after work & unless it was a corprate thing where other people (besides your company) we're involved. Don't worry about it! Try to be light hearted about it! They knew it could happen to anyone. If they didn't want people to enjoy themselves there shouldn't be alcohol made available. People seem to blow things WAY overboard when it's a work function. I'm sure it wasn't as bad as you think!

Re: VERY EMBARRASSED

Suzanne,

Don't listen to your co-workers about not apologizing. You defintiely need to apologize. E-mail the pres. and say 'I guess I am a lightweight! I apologize for my behavior last night and it won't happen again'. Make it lighthearted but defintely let it be known you know you screwed up and you won't do it again. By ignoring the situation you look like you don't care what happened. It takes a bigger person to apologize than to hide from it. It will also clear the air especially with the meeting.

Trust me it happens all the time. I've been to 5 christmas parties (with lawyers too) and someone always gets 'faced and acts like an a$$. So some people will chalk it up to 'hey it happens' but do apologize - and soon!!!!

Oh and drink tons of water at the meeting to stay hydrated!

Re: VERY EMBARRASSED

In my opinion, I don't think you should apologize for it. This might just bring attention to how you acted and make it worse. I would just wait to see if he mentions it to you, then I would apologize. From now on though, I would never drink much at company parties. Just go about your day like nothing happened, and keep your chin up!

Re: VERY EMBARRASSED

oh suzanne! sorry you're feeling like this right now, but trust what everyone is telling you.. it DOES happen to everyone. if i were you, i wouldn't make the apology like a formal apology. i would make it 'matter of fact-ly!' maybe when you pass him / her by say something to the effect of 'yep, i think i may have had a bit too much to drink last night.. ya think?' say it in a joking manner i would think.. that way you are acknowledging if you did go overboard but not fessing up either. doesn't sound to me as though what you were doing was all that bad!
