When we met with an officiant before we decided to get married by our priest in the church, we just explained to him our 'ideal' ceremony. We also asked if he had any unique ideas, etc...

Basically, our goal was just to find out if our personalities matched

Good luck and HTH!!

We're using a rabbi and a priest....meeting w/the rabbi was pretty easy, it more like getting to know if he 'understood' the type of ceremony I was looking for. Haven't met w/the priest yet. That I'm nervous about, don't know why...actually, I think it's because I get the feeling over the phone that he's slightly more religous than we're looking for, so I'm hoping he's ok with us....but then again, he agreed to and has performed many interfaith weddings before, so I'm probably just worried for nothing.

But def. tell him what you want said, not said, all that stuff. But also, just be honest. At least for me, so far anyway, it wasn't as scary as I thought it was going to be.

yes, the 'not said' part is a bit scary, my aunts wedding ceremony was beautiful but her priest made some funnies that i just felt were out of place, i figure that i would use that as a segway into the 'not said' convo, lol!

LOL! this was a priest in a church too! i know he had the best intentions but maybe just maybe, a story about how he and his brother are the happiest in his family bc they are celibate-not the best choice for a marriage ceremony
