my prayers are with you

No one can predict the future, they say 6months to a year but you don't know when and if that will happen. You could reschedule the date and that date could end up causing confusion as well. I agree with the other girls talk to your parents and only worry about their thoughts and feelings on the matter. I am sure you dad wants nothing more than to be at your wedding and I am sure he will find the strength to make sure he is there!

I agree with what some of the other brides are saying. You need to do what feels right to you. You should do what your gut tells you. I am sorry and you are in my prayers.

Re: Very hard topic..need advice please.....(mini update)

this is tough....i hope that my story will help you. We found out my mom had lung cancer in Oct 2007 (not a smoker, perfectly healthy and fit otherwise til one day she had problems breathing and went to ER) anyway, Nov they told us same thing 6 mths to a year or so. Around thanksgiving of that year, my brother got engaged and they decided to have the wedding in April so my mom could be there. She ended up passing away a month later in December. My brother still had the wedding in April and it was difficult for the family and we all did our best to have fun but it was still sad. I got engaged two weeks after she passed away, and decided to have a year and a half engagement....honestly no matter how long i waited it is still hard and you will always wish your parent was there. Basically the moral of my story is dont make a decision based on what the doctors say, make the decision that is right for you, and hopefully it will work out and if it doesnt you just have to go with it. My brother tried to plan around thinking my mom would be there and it just wasn't in the cards unfortunately. Sorry this is so long, but i hope it helps a little. You don't know how long you have, so just try to take it day by day, and appreciate each day you do have.

ITA I lost my father 20 years ago and it is still very hard for me to think of my day without him. He will always be in my heart and will always be missed. JMO I would keep the date and hope for the best (sometimes Doctors give you the worst case scenerio). I think it will give your father comfort knowing his little girl will be taking care of. I know it's very hard but you must do what YOU feel is right. You and your family will be in my prayers.

My heart and prayers go out to you, your father and family.

I can't even begin to say 'i understand' or 'it will be ok' but I can say that now is when your faith needs to kick into high gear and just trust that someone up there is looking out for you.

PLEASE FM me if you need someone to talk to.

I can only imagine what you must be going through. I will keep your family in my prayers. I think your should keep your plans the way they are. I have learned that life is going to happen no matter how much you plan. My 25 year old brother died suddenly in his sleep 3 months before my wedding. We are still waiting for the autopsy to find out why. I really missed him on my wedding day but after much debate and the support of an awesome counselor I realized that no matter when I had my wedding I was still going to miss my brother.
Sorry so long. In the end you must do what is best for you.
