Very Lonely

Original post by SeptBride70

...That is what I am going to be for a while... VERY LONELY!

Vinny is pre-med as most of you already know. He is currently finishing up his LAST class that he needs before applying to Med School, he is taking the MCAT's in April so he will be studying like crazy everyday until then. He is also taking a Kaplan review course AND interning at a Doctor's office! Between all of that and his regular job at the family biz (the Car Wash) we are not going to see each other for the next two years (JK LOL) But seriously- it's going to be hard and I'm not used to this at all

I told him that if the next time we see each other is at the Rehearsal Dinner-- I'm going to be very upset!!

I guess I just need some support-- Today for example- he left the house at 6am (car wash, Dr's office, class) and he won't get home until 9:30pm tonight. Then, when he takes the Kaplan M-Cat test he won't be getting home until 10:30 sometimes!

Anyone else going through this too? Can I have some words of wisdom, hugs or support ladies?? I'm feeling really down- at least we had a great 'last weekend together' this past weekend

Sorry for the Debbie Downer post

Hey Dan...

I hate saying the 'cliche' : 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder'. It makes me
Especially since people told me that all the time while Peter was at war..but honestly Dan..its the truth.

Its hard, it can be lonely. But it will pay off.
The fruit of Vinny's hard work and your sacrifice will be reaped later.(sounds gooberish, but true)

Just Think Dr. Rella will be able to afford you your 1million dollar Smithtown estate with a pool some day!!(and the palmiottos will rent a toolshed in your backyard..lol)

And also..another thing I always suggest to girls, and no one seems to comprehend it..is enjoy this time. Of course we love being with our FH's...and time shared is double the happiness... But we are soo young. Take this time and make it 'dani' time. Get to know you. Do something for you. Take more bubble baths. Do more girls nights out. Grab a glass of wine and watch a chick flick. Get a hobby. Beause this time is limited. Talk to any adult..and all they say is how they wish they had more alone time. In a few years you will be Dani Rella, mother, wife, friend, daughter, moms taxi service, moms career, housework, cooking, cleaning...the list never ends. And its a great job..and a fabulous time in your life..but not much alone time. So take it as it comes..enjoy it. Appreciate your time alone, the peace and quiet..because girlfriend, it will end sooner than you know!!!

I'll pray for you two..but its gonna be alright! You both have good heads on your shoulders, and love each other very much...you couldn't ask for more!

Thank you so much Nina!!!! You always know what to say and how to make everything make sense!! But, did you just tell me to 'get a hobby'?? THAT wasn't very nice! Seriously though-- I totally understand what you are saying and you are SO right-- I have time now to be ON here at night for a change (usually it's just during the day) and I have time for laundry and little things that can pile up-- And tonight I'm going to the gym!

So, all in all we'll be OK and I think that this will be good for us in a lot of ways.

Everything is what you make of it-- so if I take this and make it into a positive I'll benefit from it greatly! YAY!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

And thanks to everyone

I still can't believe how many of us are going through similar situations...

We should have a Lonely Hearts Club Forum!!

Awww.. I can somewhat relate.. when Larry works 3-11 tours or Midnights and I work during the day there are times I don't see him for days.. and sometimes, his days off are on the weekends when I am at my 2nd job and I don't see him then for like 2 weeks.. *****, but when we are together, we make the most of it..

I can relate FH leaves for work early in the am and goes straight to class after work (MBA) and to boot Tax season is kicking off so the night's he's not in class he's working late I went back to school last semester and have class at 6:30 am and work right after school It's so frustrating

Re: Very Lonely

I just wanted to chime in with some

In our relationship, I'm the one with the CRAZY schedule. I work 6 days a week, and occasionally 7 days. And late nights too at times. There have been nights where I didn't walk in the door until 4 am only to leave again at 7 am.

To keep himself busy, FH has taken up hobbies and activities. He plays poker online, and is in a bowling league and has a weekly poker game.

Most weeks, we only have time together on Tuesday nights.

Everything else is in passing, or only for an hour before its time to go to sleep.

Its hard .... but once football season is over in 2 weeks, we'll have Tuesdays and Sundays!

I have a similar situation. My fiancee owns his own business and works every day (even Sunday) from 6:30 until 10:00 pm. I get really lonely but I know it's only b/c we are saving for a house.

Re: Very Lonely

I have the same situation going on right now, except I'm the one who will be going to med school. FH has seen me through taking the MCAT 3 times! And applying, and interviewing, and I haven't even started school yet. I made sure he knows exactly how little time I will have once school starts so there are no surprises.

Becoming a physician takes a lot of sacrifice, but it's worth it (at least I think so since it's my dream). The reality is that a lot of divorces occur through med school and residency, but don't become a statistic! I think our love is stronger than a few tough years that we have to get through.

I understand what you are going through. We have been apart for our whole relationship....1.5 hours to be exact. We see eachother on any weekend we can and it's so hard during the week not to have him here b/c when I come home sometimes I only want to talk to him. Just know that the best part is you have him and he loves you! No matter what he is always there, even if not physically. It's definitely not easy but it's worth it, isn't it?! Always here for a hug and talk if you need!!

Re: Very Lonely

aw I know how you feel Dani

me and FH had opposite schedules...

when i was going to school and working. i would leave at 6 in the morning and get home at 11 sometimes

Andy works all different schedules as well and also works late until 10 sometimes

he also works weekends since he works for the family car dealership

so i know what it feels like. But distance from eachother makes the heart grow fonder

each time i spend with FH just makes it even more special and makes me love him even more..

dont worry you will get through this

hugs for you

Re: Very Lonely

Awwww I can relate. FH and I both travel a lot on biz (he's actually leaving for Hong Kong and will be gone for 2 weeks in Feb) There were times when we didn't see each other for an entire month bc when he would be coming back from somewhere I would be leaving.

At least you have the wedding planning and the boards to keep you busy now. When thats over you can take some classes or get interested in a hobby.

Trust me, you will get used to it AND it will be worth it. You will be Dr. & Mrs. Rella!!! Not too shabby

Re: Very Lonely

I am sorry you are feeling lonely. I can relate on some level being that I am the one who is hardly home due to work travel. It really stinks for both people but the time that you spend together will be so valuable and not to mention, all of Vinny's hard work will pay off in the end.
