Very Lonely

Original post by SeptBride70

...That is what I am going to be for a while... VERY LONELY!

Vinny is pre-med as most of you already know. He is currently finishing up his LAST class that he needs before applying to Med School, he is taking the MCAT's in April so he will be studying like crazy everyday until then. He is also taking a Kaplan review course AND interning at a Doctor's office! Between all of that and his regular job at the family biz (the Car Wash) we are not going to see each other for the next two years (JK LOL) But seriously- it's going to be hard and I'm not used to this at all

I told him that if the next time we see each other is at the Rehearsal Dinner-- I'm going to be very upset!!

I guess I just need some support-- Today for example- he left the house at 6am (car wash, Dr's office, class) and he won't get home until 9:30pm tonight. Then, when he takes the Kaplan M-Cat test he won't be getting home until 10:30 sometimes!

Anyone else going through this too? Can I have some words of wisdom, hugs or support ladies?? I'm feeling really down- at least we had a great 'last weekend together' this past weekend

Sorry for the Debbie Downer post

Honey, welcome to my world.

My FH leaves at 9:00am and gets home at 11:30pm or even later some nights.

Why do you think I have 6000 posts on here

You just have to keep thinking about the future and how awesome it is going to be when he is done and you have your Dr. McDreamy all to yourself

LOL! Thank you so much Bari... I appreciate it.

I know, that is why I have so many posts too-- that and internet access and work! lol!

Wow, I will have my own Dr. McDreamy hahaha-- all the biitches and whores at the hospital better keep their paws off my Dr. McDreamy though!!!

I know how you feel. I remember those med school days!!!! Don't worry it eventually gets better (well I will let you know once residency is over 2008 for me!!!) But hang in there. Trust me i know - FH is in MIA and I am in Philly - we only get to see eachother once every 4-6weeks

YIKES!!

Wow, the good thing is that Vin and I live together-- but we might need to move out of state depending on where he gets accepted but we are trying our best for somewhere local as a first choice!!!

i know how you feel.... a lot of times, we basically don't see one another all day until about 930 or 10pm. so, when we ARE home together we spend about 30 minutes in bed talking before we go to sleep... :

omg we do the same thing now! (b/c he worked a lot of hours even before this new crazy schedule) but sometimes we would be talking and just fall asleep mid sentence b/c we are both so exhausted LOL we can't even keep our eyes open sometimes!!

thank you so much!!

Thanks everyone!!!

Re: Very Lonely

FH and I have been going through this for five years already! He works crazy hours at a law firm and back in October he tried to scare me by telling me he was going to trial in March, a month before our wedding! As it is, I hardly ever see him (I live at home and he lives about 15 minutes away) b/c he works 12-16 hour days. We try to make the most of our weekends if we do get to see each other. We're finally moving in together but it doesn't look like it will make too much of a difference b/c he has insane deadlines next month and his boss won't let him take vacation . But, in the long run, it's worth it. I think it's a true test of love and a HUGE sacrifice but it makes the times you do spend together much more valuable. I stay busy with procrastinating on wedding plans and hanging out with friends. Don't worry, we're all here for you.

Hey Dan...

I hate saying the 'cliche' : 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder'. It makes me
Especially since people told me that all the time while Peter was at war..but honestly Dan..its the truth.

Its hard, it can be lonely. But it will pay off.
The fruit of Vinny's hard work and your sacrifice will be reaped later.(sounds gooberish, but true)

Just Think Dr. Rella will be able to afford you your 1million dollar Smithtown estate with a pool some day!!(and the palmiottos will rent a toolshed in your backyard..lol)

And also..another thing I always suggest to girls, and no one seems to comprehend it..is enjoy this time. Of course we love being with our FH's...and time shared is double the happiness... But we are soo young. Take this time and make it 'dani' time. Get to know you. Do something for you. Take more bubble baths. Do more girls nights out. Grab a glass of wine and watch a chick flick. Get a hobby. Beause this time is limited. Talk to any adult..and all they say is how they wish they had more alone time. In a few years you will be Dani Rella, mother, wife, friend, daughter, moms taxi service, moms career, housework, cooking, cleaning...the list never ends. And its a great job..and a fabulous time in your life..but not much alone time. So take it as it comes..enjoy it. Appreciate your time alone, the peace and quiet..because girlfriend, it will end sooner than you know!!!

I'll pray for you two..but its gonna be alright! You both have good heads on your shoulders, and love each other very much...you couldn't ask for more!

FH and I live in two different states right now . . . and I will not be moving back to NY until the end of March, so I TOTTALLY understand how you feel. The thing that keeps me going is realizing that it is only for a season

Re: Very Lonely

My FH is gone 3 months out of the year, It really stinks. You need to keep buisey and let him study. Go out with your friends. Go shopping. The more you think about it the more lonely you will feel. It *****, but its a part of life and you will get thru it.

Re: Very Lonely

We definitely have been going through this for over 2 years! On top of FH going to NYU for his MBA (love the acronyms!), his brother was dying for about over a year and a half, and his normal business hours get him home later than average. All of this (except the brother part) caused us to move in together so that we could see eachother and after I moved in and I was kinda lonely, I got our cat! It really has helped, and I know you have little Charlotte York to help you out! It really is for your benefit that he do all of this before you have a family, because then you will have time to create your family the way you like it! Oh, and in addition, I went back to school around the same time to get my 30 credits above so we would both finish around the same time...hang in there, we are all here for you!!

Re: Very Lonely

I know what you mean by not being used to it!! My FH just got promoted last September to Service Manager at Honda, so it was A LOT more responsibility and staying late, plus not much talking on the phone during the day. It was REALLY hard on me at first cause I was so used to the opposite, plus he was able to take time off more easily as a Service Advisor. I finally was able to deal with it more easily as time went on. Since we don't live together, I only really see him on weekends, and occassionally during the week, if I bring him dinner and stay with him at work. It's very rare I see him much during the week. SO, I can relate!! It *****, but it does get a little easier. I can't wait to be married so I can see him every night!! He can't wait for it either! The only thing I can do is send hugs your way and sympathize with you!!! Hope this helped!

Re: Very Lonely

heheh, yep, that sums up our lives too. We're both researchers. I'm entry level faculty, and FH is still in grad school. The good thing is we both know the field, and realize the schedule limitations...

I'm sure you're suporting him.... and I know it's hard. But I will be blunt with you.... expect him to be essentially missing until the MCATs are over, his internship is complete, and his interviews are done.... I know you'll be lonely, but unlike him, you'll at least be well rested . He will be soooo grateful to have his loved ones support....
