Very Sad

Original post by mrswask

As some of you know, we live in an apt in my IL's house. They have a lot of pets. Our dog sees their dogs but our cats don't really see each other because our Pookie is an indoor cat (I'm an overprotective mommy).
In any case, MIL comes down to us all upset last night and tells us that their cat, Domino had to be rushed to the vet because her kidneys are blocked and he was very sick. Vet gives him a blood test and he has feline AIDS!!! He is only 6 years old and the only way they can think this happened is he came home once in the past year (indoor/outdoor cat) with a cut on his ear like he was in a fight.
The vet has assured us that none of us can get sick because it doesn't travel species, but this is so scary. We have to bring Pookie in to the vet for a blood test and I am terrified. We don't think they've really had contact, but then again, we don't really know.

I can totally sympathize. We had a cat, KC who contracted feline aids. The change in her was so drastic. But we also had 2 cats that had to be tested because it was so contagious. The fear of not knowing was the worst. Not only to lose 1 but possibly all 3. There was a cat that was always causing trouble in the neighborhood and we knew KC got it from this cat.

Thank goodness the others did not have it. Now they get all their shots. I hope everything works out!

Aww, that is so sad. I'm sorry for your mom's cat. I know its transmitted through bites, so I think your cat will be ok. Just make sure they are NEVER in contact with one another. It is such a dangerous thing to let cats go outside. So sorry!!!

AWW Micky!!! I am so sorry about your inlaws cat! I am sure pookie is alright though, the cats havent been in close contact.
Just so everyone else can see how adorable she is, here is the first time I met Pookie!!!!

Michal, I'm so sorry to hear this! Try to think positive, like you said, the cats didn't have much interaction so I bet your cat is fine.
