Very Sad News...Girls, I Really Need Your Help!!! *******UPDATE******

I'm not sure if u girls remember when I made a post a few months ago asking for ur prayers because FFIL was about to receive chemo/radiation for his cancer (which initially started in his lungs) that has spread to his brain. Well he's in critical condition right now At the beginning of the week the doctors had recommended for him to be in hospice care and last night the news got even worst, they highly advised us that all his family should now spend as much time possible with him 'cause unfortunately they didn't think FFIL was gonna live much longer. FFIL hasn't been concious for almost a week!

As u girls can imagine FH's family is completely heart broken and FH is beyond devastated, he hasn't stopped crying and spending nights in the hospital with his dad.

Today, all of us had an open heart conversation and decided that the best thing for everybody and mainly for FH and I is to postpone the wedding. I lost my mom of cancer almost 7 yrs ago and know exactly what FH is going through, losing somebody as close as ur mom or ur dad is one of the most horrible things anybody could ever experience. I believe from the bottom of my heart that having a wedding should be an exciting and happy event, but none of us, especially FH will be able to feel happy when there is so much grief. It's really, really sad having to postpone the wedding, but nothing compares with the fact that in anyday FFIL will not be with us anymore.

I'm gonna start informing all of our guests tomorrow about this decision and thankfully my lovely maids of honor will be helping me.

Although we won't be able to get married this year, I'll continue supporting the rest of our 2011 brides as much as possible, sharing ideas, giving advise, recommending vendors, feeling their pain when venting, or whippin' any a$$ of whoever is nasty to them

Now, I'm not sure what's gonna happen with our vendors. Will they be willing to offer us another day next yr? Will we lose the money we have already paid?

I just wanted to let u girls know that unfortunately FFIL lost his battle with cancer on the weekend as u can imagine it was extremely painful for the whole family, but I'm soooo thankful to God for all the great support of family members and friends that went above and beyond by giving us all the support and love, the gratitude that we feel towards them is just bigger than words!!

Fortunately all of our vendors have been very understanding and told us that they'll be using the money we've paid towards a new wedding date...thank God!!! I think they also know that if they didn't do this, my liw girls will give them hell lolol!

Everything has been upside down, but as soon as our heart, especially FH's, start feeling a little bit better, we'll choose a new date and get on the wedding planning mode again.

I'm so sorry you, FH, and FH's family are going through this. I have no experience with working with vendors to reschedule, but I would suggest that you just have an honest conversation with them. hopefully they will work with you and not make things any more difficult for you.

to you & FH's family! I lost 2 grandparents to cancer, and it is a difficult time. I would think vendors would have a heart and work with you as you are going thru a very difficult family time. I'd let them know asap and see if there is anything they can do for you.

I'm going through the same thing with my father (although they say he still has a few more months to live). As hard as it might be, you're doing the right thing by postponing it. There needs to be a mourning time. As far as rescheduling vendors, I'm sure if you tell them the truth and if they're available another date, they might be willing move the date with no fee

Your vendors should understand - tell them what's happening, and they should be able to honor the deal for the future, unless they're jerks. And if they are, you let us know and we can handle it for you.

I'm lost for words...I do believe you are doing the right thing in regards to the wedding. My prayers goes out to you and your FH family and may God perform a miracle.
