My infamous co-worker had bought his gf a doz. roses about a month ago but forgot to bring them home. Kept forgetting so he put them in a vase and put them on a table for the library. Very nice. However they started to die after a few weeks so I took the ones still living and put them in fresh water. Well they died 2 or 3 days later. So they've been sitting there since then. No one wants to throw them out. Sad thing is, I was going to do it yesterday (personally I think the person that bought them should be responsible for them, but the person that bought them is a JERK as I previously established). Poeple have made comments to him like 'are you going to throw these out' and he kinda shrugs and doesn't say anything. Um hello?? Idiot. Anyway I come in today and THEY ARE ON MY DESK. So someone I work with saw fit to put DEAD FLOWERS on my desk. Nice huh?
F them. I'm serious. I almost always ask co-workers if they need help when I work the afternoon shift. I don't anymore b/c no one EVER asks me. Actually Nail Clip boys does ask me. He's the only one so I usually say yes, which means I have to hold his hand while he helps me (which takes more time than doing the project myself) but I don't want to look rude and make everyone think I don't appreciate the help he gives. But no one else asks and then someone sees fit to put DEAD ROSES on my desk????????? To hell with them.
Some of you might think I'm making a mountaion out of a mole hill, and maybe I am but when I go out of my way to help people and get nothing in return and then get this crap on my desk - it makes me MAD.

Hey I totally understand you and I dont think you are making a mountain out of a molehill...
What I don't understand, is why would someone put the flowers on your desk? MAybe it was the Jerk that bought them thinking he was being funny.
Why didnt the cheap jerk just pay extra and have the flowers delivered in the first place lol....

I'd take them and either put them on the desk of person who bought them or IN A VERY PROMINENT PLACE

I'm still stunned that clipper boy has a girlfriend ...
And for the record, I would be sooooo pissed it's not even funny.

LOL omg Scott I never thought of that but actually I think he is a cheapo. Whenever a vendor calls to say they are sending over a lunch for us from a nice catering place, he's the first one (and only one) to go 'oh great - free food!!'.
I don't know why either. I don't think it is him though. Annoying as he is, he is not a vicious person in that aspect. There's someone else I think did it. Sometimes I think she likes to instigate stuff. Yet she also asked me to take over the Corporate Seminar this year for the first year attorneys. Um...sorry I don't think so (if it turns out she put the flowers there). Otherwise maybe it was a mistake but there's no reason for anyone to accidently come to my desk...it's not situated like that.

You know what? I would love to do that but then others that left before I did would wonder why and I don't want to look petty. I just put them back where they were. I don't want to sink to anyone else's level.

I would pretend like you thought it was funny so the perp reveals him/herself.....then do what you must to them

We kinda wonder if he's not a closet gay but that's neither here nor there. I don't care about his sexual orientation. I care that he's weird!! LOL
And funny enough, his gf is really nice on the phone when she calls. She congratulated me on my wedding and asked about Hawaii and we had a nice chat one day when she called. Apparently she's older than he is, I wonder if she's more like a mother figure (if so she's not doing a good job!) but she is nice.

I would love to. However it's a small department and I think anything I do in retaliation will look petty on my part. Thats ok. The girl I work with will probably mention it to the others when I'm on my lunch. I'm also going to be VERY quiet today - normally when I am quiet people know I'm mad.

Too bad there wasnt video cameras in the office....You could of gotten her on tape. We can always get the vase into a forensic lab...Anyone in Forensics want to volunteer in checking out the vase for prints? lol Scott

I just saw this Mary..
Aww nuts..I cannot believe what type of crap that is .... arrrrrrrrrrrghh..
You've gotten some good advice here and I'm not entirely certain what I would do , since you cannot be sure who exactly put the dead flowers on your desk (ugh just thinking about it makes my blood boil)
As Wendy said, I think I'm still stunned to hear that the co-worker actually HAS a G'Friend!!
But trust me I do NOT thinnk you are being petty... I'd be PO'd also, BIG TIME

Re: Very upset at co-workers right now. (long vent)
I just don't know what to do. I was thinking of leaving a note on the vase saying 'please don't leave dead flowers on my desk'
But I know my co-workers. Some can get pretty weird about things. I don't want to cause more trouble because it ALWAYS ends up biting me on the a$$ instead.
I think that because I was the one that originally was NICE ENOUGH to put fresh water in them, that now they are MY responsibility. ***????

I can't help but laugh a little at this. Such drama at the office!
Maybe its just time to find a new job.

Oh and if I had to guess why the flowers ended up on your desk... I betcha word got around when you posted that thread here about you complaining about a load of stuff at the office to the management.
You might have gotten the label of 'the office nag' now because of that and your co-workers are just f'in with you at this point.

Hey don't blame me. I am just the observer.
But you have to agree that complaining about stuff like you mentioned last week... can lead to situations like this.

Re: Very upset at co-workers right now. (long vent)
excuse me but i didn't complain to anyone at work. i complained HERE. so unless you or anyone else knows where i worked and said something then i highly doubt that happened.
and ya know i'm open to honest opinions and whatnot, but i don't really need a 'i told you so' comment.
