Very upset at co-workers right now. (long vent)

Original post by Maribelle7777

My infamous co-worker had bought his gf a doz. roses about a month ago but forgot to bring them home. Kept forgetting so he put them in a vase and put them on a table for the library. Very nice.
However they started to die after a few weeks so I took the ones still living and put them in fresh water. Well they died 2 or 3 days later.
So they've been sitting there since then. No one wants to throw them out. Sad thing is, I was going to do it yesterday (personally I think the person that bought them should be responsible for them, but the person that bought them is a JERK as I previously established). Poeple have made comments to him like 'are you going to throw these out' and he kinda shrugs and doesn't say anything. Um hello?? Idiot. Anyway I come in today and THEY ARE ON MY DESK. So someone I work with saw fit to put DEAD FLOWERS on my desk. Nice huh?

F them. I'm serious. I almost always ask co-workers if they need help when I work the afternoon shift. I don't anymore b/c no one EVER asks me. Actually Nail Clip boys does ask me. He's the only one so I usually say yes, which means I have to hold his hand while he helps me (which takes more time than doing the project myself) but I don't want to look rude and make everyone think I don't appreciate the help he gives. But no one else asks and then someone sees fit to put DEAD ROSES on my desk????????? To hell with them.

Some of you might think I'm making a mountaion out of a mole hill, and maybe I am but when I go out of my way to help people and get nothing in return and then get this crap on my desk - it makes me MAD.

Even so, does complaining warrant someone plopping down dead flowers on your deak...I think not. For me (I am Italian) this is a very BIG insult...it is like telling someone you want them dead, or do not care if they die.

Well I complained today.
Not about the nail clipping but other things and basically ended up defending myself over things.

F that.

I hate my boss sometimes.

Guess I'll have to suck it up with the clip clip clip because I feel like if I compliain, I'm the Big B!tch.

Are you saying you didn't complain to your boss... because from this statement it sounded like you did complain... (and not just to people on this website).

alright columbo, relax

the point was not if she complained, the point was the amount of disrespect she felt....no need to jump all over it.

I am not jumping over anything. I really don't care what goes on at her job. I am just quoting exactly what she said. Thats all. I like to make sure I have all my facts straight before I make a post about something.

She said she didn't mind opinions... (if they don't say I told you so) and in that thread I said its not worth it to complain to the management for fear of getting the entire office against her.

Now at this point... like I said above it may be best to just find a new job since she obviously is not happy.

For a small gesture, it's really hugely, blatently disrespectful to you.

i would be fuming if someone put dead flowers on my desk.....but from what it sounds like in that pffice - i think you should do nothing......

whoever did it probably wants a reaction from you....so if you give them a reaction it will make them feel justified (think middle school mentality )

if you do nothing - it will eat at them....and they will think that it didn't bother you and you win!!!

I don't think you need to get a new job over this...I think your co-workers need to grow up.

How sad is it that nail clipper boy seems like the nicest one????

I may have given the wrong impression of my co-workers. They are all nice. To be honest nail clip guy is nice, but there's things about him that bother me. Some are work related and some are not. And I know for a fact I'm not the only one that thinks this about him. I just don't say on here 'no one in our dept likes him that much either' because I don't talk for anyone else. As for the flowers, OK maybe I jumped the gun in accusing co-workers (accusing them here, I mean) but this is the first time it's been moved since I freshend the water. The only cleaning guy that comes in just vacuumes, no one touches our desk except each other. And that's only for work related purposes. But perhaps one of the night housekeepers moved it and somehow it wound up on my desk. Who knows. I kinda have a feeling I know who did it - and I cannot tell if she did it as 'here's some dead roses for you' more as a joke, knowing NCB is not my favorite co-worker and thinking putting the flowers he bought on my desk would piss me off. But still...dead flowers are dead flowers. It wasn't particularly funny. But when you work closely with 6 women, some cattiness is bound to happen, even if you get along with them for the most part. It's just how things go.

I am over the flower thing, I was blowing off steam this morning. I didn't want to mention it to anyone at work because like Lori said, if it was done mean spirited, then that person was looking for a reaction, and not giving a reaction is a better way of acting, IMO.

Thanks for all the funny replies though

ps: I never said I hated my job or wanted a new one. One bad episode is not going to make me go look for a new job. I'm a bit more stronger than that!
