Many of us are home today from work in because of Veteran's Day - a day that honors the men and women in military service who served to ensure the protection of our rights as Americans. As the daughter of a World War II veteran who was EXTREMELY proud of his service, I would like to thank the people who have (and continue to) put themselves on the line to secure the freedoms and lives of our American citizens. I have much respect for all of you. G-d bless America!

Very well said.. and a thank you to my FH who was a marine for 6 years. He unfortunately is working right now and I have off.. but it is important to remember why we get this glorious three day weekend

My Grandpa was a Koren War Vet- he never actually made it to Korea- he spent 1 year learning to surf in Hawaii
and my Great Grandpa was a world war 1 vet- he actually fought- we have his helmet and my Dad has a bullet from his gun as a key chain

Thats why I posted it. My plan was to visit my father's grave today, but being that we haven't laid a stone for an unveiling yet, I am not permitted to do so nor do I think I am really ready. He was truly an American hero but my hero as well.

My friends Husband is in Afgahanstan- and has been there since 1 week after they got married
he should be home soon! before thanksgiving!

if it makes you feel better I don't have the strengh to go see my Mom's grave-
something about seeing her name a date will make it all too real!

Sorry for your loss! That is a very emotional visit! FH and I went to visit his dad (also a Marine) before he left for his first deployment, FH wore his Dress Blues! When I gave him a few mins alone and before he left he stood at attention and saluted OMG the water works!!! His father has past away 7.5 yrs prior to that but still so emotional!
