I have looked through a lot of posts, but have not seen VFW halls addressed. My FH and I just spent a lot of money renovating our new home prior to him proposing. We are financing the wedding on our own, and catering halls do not seem to be within our budget. Am I biting off more than I can chew with doing this all myself at a VFW hall? We've considered the all inclusive package at Mediterranean Manor, but question if we'll have the funds within 2 years. We never planned on getting married, so this whole situation is exciting but also overwhelming and stressful. We're at the point where eloping sounds perfect, only my father has always wished to walk me down the aisle. Is anyone here planning a hall wedding or has anyone already had one that has pointers and feedback?
Thank you for your help in advance.

Re: VFW Halls?
Well its not a wedding, but we had my parents 50th birthday bash at the K of C in Oceanside, similar to a VFW, except that they have their own catering! Their prices were VERRRRY reasonable, and included everything, flowers, cake, food and even including open bar. I think we had around 120 people and it was perfect! I suggest that you check them out if its convenient to your location, that way you don't have to worry about taking it all on yourself. Hope that helps. Good luck!

Re: VFW Halls?
Thank you so much for the information. We are actually located in Eastern Suffolk, so that may be a bit of a hike for us. It is good to know that there are options for us.
Does anyone know of any places in Eastern Suffolk?
Thank you!

Re: VFW Halls?
Hi!! There is a VFW and a K 0f C in Kings Park. They are either on Church Street or Kohr Road. There is also one on 347 in Smithtown. We have had many parties at these type of places. We have always done our own food, so I am not sure about catering. HTH and GL!!

I'm guessing these aren't utilized much for weddings. Any other cost effective ideas?

Re: VFW Halls?
Brentwood Country Club or Holbrook Country Club are both reasonably priced and have all-inclusive packages.
What size wedding are you having? I have heard the Snapper Inn (restaurant on the water in Oakdale) puts on a nice affair.

Re: VFW Halls?
We are looking at approximately 115 people. Since my last post my grandfather offered up his VFW hall for under $500 for the full day. Now I'm on the hunt for a caterer, photographer and DJ. Also looking for an outdoor location for a small and simple ceremony that will give me amazing wedding photos.
Thanks for responding!

thats an awesome price, my cousin jason got married in a vfw hall about 2 yrs ago and it was beautiful in there. It doesnt matter where someone has there reception at, because everyone is there for one purpose to share in the joy and happiness of the 2 of you becoming husband and wife.

Re: VFW Halls?
You are so right. We really thought long and hard about the reception and felt for our budget we have to go the VFW way. Trust me, I was hoping to find the magical inclusive package under $7,000 but it doesn't seem to exist. Think if I do this right, I can do this for under $6,000. It's amazing the contacts you find out you have when you mention you are getting married. Turns out one coworker's family member is a DJ and another co-worker's brother is a caterer. Keeping my fingers crossed for deals. Was also told we had the VFW hall for 24hrs if need be. So glad we won't be ushered out after 4 hours!
My main focus is going to be the ceremony and honeymoon. Want them to be spectacular. Figure the reception is all about the food and dancing and I should have that covered.
Thanks so much for your post!
