Victorian Charm Pull

Did anyone do they the charm pull where the bridesmaids pulled charms out of a cake? If so did you do this at the wedding or the rehearsal dinner? I am getting married next weekend and can't figure out which to do. Thanks!

I was in a bridal party where the bride did this... I thought it was a nice idea and really different, I actually still have my charm! However, I think doing it at the wedding is unnecessary... It took about 1/2 hour to 45 mins and I think the rest of the guests just sat there bored... I think it would be nicer at the rehearsal dinner! JMO But whatever you decide it will be nice, it is a very nice thing to do for the bridal party...

Think I used the word NICE enough???? haha!

Thanks! I saw it done once and loved the idea. I just have to decide how to put it in the cake at the rehearsal dinner Oh well ... I guess it will just take some creative planning ...

You're welcome! Where are you having your RD??? Maybe you can bring the charms to the restaurant a few days before the actual RD... they can stick them sporadically (spelling??) in the cake. This way that is something else YOU don't need to stress over! Good luck!!! Have fun!!

I did this for my girls at the rehersal and they loved it. I didn't want to do it at the reception because I just didn't think everyone would be interested.
Where are you having your rehersal dinner at? You should check with them about the cake because our place wouldn't let you bring in your own food so we had to go through their cake vendor....which actually work our better because then I didn't have to worry about it and they did a great job (it was only about an additional $15 for the cake) and they delivered it right to the place.

I think the boys were a little jealous.

I did it at my bridesmaid luncheon. I think the girls got a kick out of it. In fact some of them tied the ribbon and chard around their ankle and wore it the day of the wedding, which was cute.

I'm sure someone has a better explanation, but here's a little info on it... There are charms, a heart (which I got), a horseshoe, I'm sure there is like a flower, and there are more... each one has a meaning and has a little white ribbon attached to it... and the charms are stuck into the cake (wedding cake, RD cake) The girls in the bridal party pick the charms out of the cake. When I was in the bridal party, she told us which one she wanted us to pick and she read us the meaning... The heart meant everlasting love and I still have it and I guess it's true because now i'm getting married! Like I said someone will probably have a better way of explaning this to you, I hope I helped a little

OH My God!!! Thanks sooooooooooooooo much for doing all the work!! I definately like the idea. I think I will do it at the rehearsal dinner or the BM lucheon. Are places willing to put the charms in the cake for you? Thanks OctBride for all of your help

Thank you so much everyone! I think I am going to do it at the RD which is going to take place at the Raddison on Exit 63. I will definately have to see if they can put these in. The charms I bought were at Exclusivelyweddings.com and they did come with meanings but like someone else said you can make up your own if you like. They also comes as sterling silver or silverplated and you can buy them in a pack of 6 or individually. I hope this helps! Thanks again everyone!

I'm confused about the charms. What do you mean when the charms are put in the cake? Are they baked in or are they stuck in the cake after its baked? And do they girls have to dig around to find the charms? Sorry if these questions sound silly, but I'm not familiar with this tradition.

The cake is already baked when the charms are put in.. The ribbon attached to the charm sticks out so that is all they pull, they don't touch the cake with their hands at all (which is good )
