Here is the dilemma. How many times do you really watch your video?
I see the new trend is toward movie style video in HD but many of these videos are very short and condensed and are priced around $2,000 and up.
my family has used a particular video company many times and they are a lot less expensive but you get the basic video (not movie like editing) but includes photo montage at the beginning, and full coverage of ceremony, cocktail hour and reception, and video montage at the end it is around $1,000 cheaper than the others.
Is it worth spending the money for the HD movie style video (which I feel doesn't represent the real wedding) or go for the cheaper video that is more real life?
What would you do? or have you chosen to do?

Re: video
I don't plan on doing a video at all, but JMO I'd do the cheaper one. The movie ones are not my taste, but it's up to you. If you already have a company you'd trust I'd go with that.

Re: video
that is how I am feeling. The movies ones do a lot of slow motion. I have seen them where they play music in the video different than the ceremony music so as the bridal party is walking down the aisle you do not hear the real music that was chosen. it all seems so fake

ok here's my thing...the movie style ones are pretty cool. when you watch it you're like 'wow that was so cool' BUT imo...a video is good to catch some things you have missed....its to remind you of your beautiful day that probably sped by in what seemed like a blink of an eye....so i would go with the one that represents your wedding in a more complete fashion, which would probably be the more traditional style

Re: video
i went w/ the traditional video because i felt it was more 'real', and that you could actually re-live the moment vs. the whole special slow motion music video editing thing... it wasnt that big of a deal price wise, but i just preferred the traditional video

Re: video
Well I am getting about 4 dvd's. Yes i have the movie type ones which I personally love, and i love that I will have shorter videos that are easier to watch, rather than if anybody does ask to watch our video, they don't have to sit through 2 hours of it. BUT I also do get raw footage and get more of the real effect too. So I have both the real thing and the more movie type with effects. Personally, I dont like the real traditional bc even traditional old school videographers do effects but the effects are different. Depending on the videographer, the effects can be well very old school and not my style. For e-party I went with a traditional videographer, well actually MIL surprised us with it. We had a regular dvd with no effects that showed the night as is. Then we had another dvd that had effects but not movie style effects, it was just a bit different and i prefer the newer effects rather than the old style ones which i really do not like
So I love that have dvd's with cool movie effects BUT at the same time I will have a regular DVD with shows the day as is and is more real. I can even add more DVD's and pick what I want to do with it. And yes it is short but dont forget you get about 3-4 dvd's in your package. For example they have a highlight reel so that of course will be short. Then you can have just the getting ready part and again that will be short, and also just a ceremony part and when you took pics. But you do get the raw footage of your day too in addition to the shorter movie effects dvd's.

I'm using TP as well, just not happy with the video he sent for me to look at. Love his photography though
