Just curious... we weren't planning on having one because no one we know watches them and thought it was a good way to save money... but now I'm having doubts... any possible packes for like $800, or am I crazy? We're using Duet for pics and they were too pricey with the video package.

Thanks... I think it would have to be really cheap to for us to agree on getting one... I was even thinking of checking craiglist. My friend got a jazz ensemble for her cocktail hr off there... they have everything on there, but you never know what you're getting

i don't know of anyone that will do it for that price but i def think you should get a videographer - they'll capture your special moments in real time....you'll love it.

Re: Video prices
here is the site...i never met with them but others have and said they were really nice and work with you, some girls on here are using them
Thanks - it looks like they would be around $1k. I'm just surprised but I don't know - is that normal pricing? I don't want anything crazy, just a video - not even the whole intro with baby pics, music and all that (if they still do that). I am not cheap but this isn't something either of us wanted to spend a ton of money on, and I'm not pulling it out of the honeymoon fund!

Re: Video prices
I met with Rambling Rose. Nick is a sweetheart, very nice guys. There prices range from $899-$2000. There basic package is just as it says basic- only basic editing is done and nothing else. If you want to go with fade in and out, music, voice over - I think its about $1600 give or take. Their videos are good quality so you cant go wrong.

good to know. I think we are spending a lot on pics so I'm not going crazy with the video (if I can get him to agree to one). why is everything marked up when it's wedding related? I just started looking into hair and makeup prices, and it's ridiculous how much more you pay for being a bride. I just promised both of us to keep this low budget as possible so we could splurge on the honeymoon and save for a house. [that said, i MUST get my hair and makeup done; it's my WEDDING day after all]

that's awesome... I'd take it as a gift from anyone! maybe i should mention i'm not having one and someone will offer... hm.
One girl on craigslist quoted me $375 for just makeup. I was like, uh no thanks. And she was on her own too; you would think she'd be more reasonable.

sorry I read it wrong... that's how i feel about my whole wedding - we're paying for it so we can do it how we want to, so it's a good philosophy!

My make up artist is in that range, she is a freelance artist and doesnt work for a salon but does make up for tv shows and weddings. Everything for them is out of pocket costs, they dont have a salon to pay for products for them...

Re: Video prices
I met with Nic from Rambling Rose and we loved him, but we’re not going to book with him. What we’re actually doing is buying a good quality HD camcorder and FH has two friends in film school who are just starting out in the business so they’re going to do ours to add to their reel. The reason we’re doing this, though, is not to save money---with the camcorder and all, it’s about as much as we would have paid with Rambling Rose. It’s a matter of having the video ASAP—we’re having a Swedish reception after the wedding here, less than a month later, and I want to have something to show them. I’ll be doing the editing with all my nifty Apple products.

it's a lot for me to spend on just make up; it would be one thing if that included hair. my sister is telling me i should get someone to come to the house but it might be cheaper to just go to maximus or something and get it all done there, both hair and makeup. It's a pain b/c i live in queens and my hair place is in the city but i'm getting ready in LI, so I'm clueless. I haven't called them yet though.
