video question

hello. my brother inlaw is taking care of our video as part of my sister and their family's wedding gift to us. he runs a studio that is contracted by low budget photographers to do videos. i knew that my video would not be exactly what i wanted, but that we would be saving some money (though we still have to pay the shooter $350! this guy shoots videos on the weedend and works at sears during the week ). so i called him to go over details, and i informed him that i do not want the big blaring light shining on the dance floor when people dance (he had this when he shot my brothers wedding in april, and i didnt like it at all!) but he said that he cant shoot with out it because it would be too dark.

my question is do all videographers shoot with a bright light on the dance floor? or just this guy bc his camera is older? i am nervous, too, that he amd his light might get in the way of our photographer.
i remember at my brothers wedding that the light lit up the whole dance floor, you couldnt even see the dj lights. grr.

honestly, yes he will probably need those big lights because he sounds amateur and doesn't use the latest in video technology.

I don't know what to tell ya-I wouldn't want that at my wedding.

I believe videographers need some lighting, however they use smaller, less obtrusive lighting now.
