Can anyone recommend a non-intrusive videographer? We met with one this past weekend, but he seemed incredibly expensive - almost as much as my photographer!!

Debby-
What did you end up doing about your dress. I don't remember hearing/reading the story. I hope it all worked out for you in the end.

Because any fool can operate a video camera...it takes a lot of skill to be a photographer.

Iam so happy to hear that all turned out well for you. Does this place do headpieces only? I am looking for one without the veil

Rick,

I posted a question for you a few weeks ago, but I guess it got buried in the string...

Don't you feel you were a bit harsh in your response? As a newly engaged bride-to-be, I am working off of what others have told me to expect to pay - and was simply looking for an opinion. And yes, I did think he did an amazing job.

The Satin roses are boring now, played out and everyone does it. Not original anymore! They end up on the ground and the plastic stems are not good for the environment. Real petals, bubbles or wedding rice are a better alternative.
My suggestion would be to listen to some Broadway muscials cd's. They have some great songs that you do not usually hear everyday.

Now this is the kind of comment that riles people up...what's the purpose? There is surely more to a videographers job than just 'operating a videocamera' otherwise every bride out there would ask Uncle Bob or Cousin Jim to do the honors and save a grand or so. I don't think it's a fair comment. There is the editing, creativity, unobtrusiveness, and I'm sure many other things to consider. Just like all other aspects of the wedding, we each know what we are willing to pay. There is quite a range of prices out there.
By the way, is anyone inquiring about having their video on DVD? My fiance wants to find out from our videographer about having this done (in addition to a VHS tape) Have you ever seen old videos that have gotten worn out and darkened from use? My understanding of DVD is that they will stand the test of time.

Rick, thank you for your insight to the world of professional wedding video...

Perhaps this will let you know where my fiance and I are coming from... We originally were not going to have a video due to budget and the impartial need for it. However, after viewing some family wedding videos since the beginning of our engagement, we have a new outlook on wedding video and would like to have one...although the budget hasn't changed from zero :-) So, now we need to know about how much $ to come up with to even consider hiring.
