I am torn - should I spend the money on a videographer? I haven't chosen one yet, but I can gaurantee that it will be at least $1200. We are paying for our entire wedding and we've upgraded our photography package by $1000 for the digital albums... Do you think that we should put the $1200 towards saving for a house or get that videographer? I have heard so many mixed thoughts about videography. Some say they don't miss not having it and others say, 'THANK GOD I did' HELP!!! What are your thoughts?

I think if you don't you will regret it. you cannot get back the day.
I understand everyones reasoning, however I dont have one and I DO NOT regret it at all!
I am not a video person, I prefer to look at my pictures! I have an amature video taken by DHs uncle and I have watched it once in 10 months!
Everyone is different obviously so only you know whether its important to you!
To me I have never once thought, 'I wish I had a video' maybe years from now I will but who knows....

If I had it to do over again, I would have spent more on the pics and skipped the video. I don't like watching mine at all.

I think it is worth it--peopel will watch it and you will want to see things on the video that you may have missed during the wedding. I have a friend whose neice watches her parents wedding video ALL the time & loves to see her parents on the tv--which I think is priceless. She likes it just as much as any disney movie she watches.

To me... the most important vendors were photo and video...
They are my memories that will last forever...everything else is special because it creates those memories....But are gone after that night... I cant wait to show my children my wedding video... I wish my parents had gotten one...Id love to see there wedding...
I think its an essential...but everyoone is different

I totally think it's worth it. I have talked to people that didn't get a videographer and they tell me they regret it. I think it will be great to look at your video years after and remember the memories.

WELL.... I was Like I HAVE to have one. We watched it once and the guy missed our first kiss. My DH is so upset about it that he doesn't want to watch it ever again! Make sure you write down WHAT you want.

I agree with you all who said it's a must. No matter how small or big your wedding is, it's a memory that you can have forever. There is so much I saw on the video that I didn't see that night or day. The videographer even was there while we took pictures at my aunt's house and we caught some of the fun stuff that happened there. We still laugh at our best man's speech.

I think, if it's not that important to you, than get some raw footage, a basic package. Check out craigslist - I saw some videographers for $600. I even saw a couple amateur videographers posting that you can name your price. They are trying to get the experience. it may not have the music overlays and upgrades, but atleast it will document your big day.

FH and I decided not to. We don't like seeing ourselves in video. I think I look silly sometimes. I rather see myself in pictures.

I say yes if you can swing it. Pictures are great, but video captures real emotion.
In the grand scheme of things, $1200 is not a lot and it shouldn't set you that far back in saving for a house.

I am not having a videographer, my dad just bought a great video camera and is having one of my cousins record the ceremony and my dad with help will record the rest of the night, he loves doing that stuff. I think that as long as someone records part of your wedding you won't regret not having a real videographer.

We want one really bad but are waiting til we get closer to the day to see if we can afford it. Our D.J. provides the service and told us we can wait and see if we can do it or not.
If I had a bigger budget I would say a big fat YES to a videographer!!
